The CCRCC has had a lot to be proud of over the last week. Many employees attended the Maine Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Conference in South Portland, along with the awards ceremony celebrating achievements for 2025. (See photos for our highlights)

Additionally, one of our very own has earned their Bachelors degree from the University of Southern Maine while working full-time as an Emergency Telecommunicator. (See photo)

We could not be more proud of the amazing things that are happening in and outside of our Center. Please help us in showing appreciation and recognition for just a few of our difference-makers.

The sky turns dark, heavy with storms rolling in. Clouds stretch low over the horizon, and the radio towers stand tall—steady, constant, cutting through the noise of the night.

Inside, the lights don’t dim.

Headsets on. Screens glowing. Voices steady.

While the world watches the storm, we listen for the calls that come with it. Every crack of thunder, every flash in the distance—we know the community may need us. And when they do, we’re here.

Calm in the chaos. A voice in the dark.
Always listening. Always ready.
Beneath the towers, we too stand tall.

Next week, the Maine Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association will be hosting their annual conference. We are so proud to learn and celebrate with the incredibly skilled 9-1-1 professionals around the state of Maine.

We are truly at a loss for words for how incredible the Community was to us this weekend. Nearly 1,300 of you came to your local 9-1-1 Dispatch Center to share joy with us and the many, many responders that we Dispatch for.

The weather turned around for us at the last minute, allowing us to get some much needed sunshine.

A special shout out goes to Communications Officer Mike Poirier who coordinated this event and met his goal of making 2026 this biggest and best year this event had seen. He was backed by an incredible team of Public Education specialist (to include two Daughters of our very own Dispatchers, who take great pride in sharing knowledge with those in their age groups).

Naturally Jammin', Slyvia's Mobile Catering and North East Ice Cream served up some delicious treats for kids & adults.

Thank you to Cumberland County EMA & CERT Team and Cumberland County V.I.Ps for all of your help!

The staff at the Cumberland County RCC have fully leaned into the spirit of National Public Safety Telecommunicators week! They have voted on 911 Dispatch Superlatives, participated in themed days (following the viral trend of recreating JC Penney studio portraits), had custom lunch & dinner orders made by Admin at "The Grill Sergeant BBQ" and been treated to many special treats from those we serve and beyond. Most importantly, our staff has felt all the love and appreciation while still providing a high level of care and service to the 19 communities we serve.

We hope you enjoy this sneak peek into the kind, hilarious and very skilled staff we have! Don't forget to come join us tomorrow (rain or shine) at our 4th annual Touch A Truck event! We are so fulfilled to be able to bring first-responders and community members together at a free, outdoor event.
