John Handley High School Junior, Elizabeth Loring finished up her internship with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District this semester by delivering her team's capstone project. The project required each student to take on the roles of civil engineer, architect, and mechanical engineer as they designed the project over the course of a semester.

The Army Corps Internship is an exceptional example of putting skills learned into practice in the workplace. Over the course of a semester, students spend several hours each week learning how to work in a professional setting, develop communication and public presentation skills, and use engineering and architectural software to design a full facility that must comply with local building codes.

Thank you to the Army Corps for your partnership and congrats to Elizabeth on a job well done!
