The Wi******er City Sheriff’s Office would like congratulate Deputy Tori Kalisz for completing her 40 hours of training and receiving her “Hostage Negotiation” specialty certification. This is a huge accomplishment because only a few deputies and officers in this area received this accommodation.

Sheriff Sales’ objective is to provide the best and up to date training to all of his deputies. This allows us to be prepared to handle any and every incident that comes our way. Well trained deputies and officers in our area provide the best service possible for every resident in the area.

Thank you Deputy Kalisz for stepping it up and obtaining this certification to better serve our community.

For the last few years, Sheriff Sales and the Wi******er City Sheriff’s Office have received support and visits from this young baseball star named Finlay! Finlay has supported our office and many community events. Last night Sheriff Sales had a chance to return the favor and support our upcoming student/athletes.

Sheriff Sales was invited to throw out the opening pitch before the Championship Wi******er Baseball championship game! Sheriff Sales also spoke to both teams about having fun and being safe while seeking the victory!

Sheriff Sales would like to thank all coaches, family members and players for allowing him to participate in this community championship event. Sheriff Sales was presented the game-ball which he will display in his office at the courthouse.

It was great to see Finlay start the first 3 innings of the game as the pitcher! Great job young man. You were throwing strikes!

All in all, when our youth are doing positive things, they should receive positive reinforcement. Thank you to all the parents who were there supporting your children. It was a great game, but very hot and humid out!!!

The Wi******er City Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate our newest deputy for successfully completing The Law Enforcement Academy last week. Congratulations to Deputy Kat Corbin, we are all proud of you! She is pictured below holding up her certificates.

While at the academy, Deputy Kat Corbin received her graduation certificate along with a 1st place award for receiving the highest score among the females for the physical fitness assessment.

Some of the accomplishments that earned her the physical fitness assessment award were as follows: She completed 60 pushups, 41 sit-ups, a bench press of 175 pounds and she completed the mile and half run in the required time. Again, great job Deputy Corbin! One last achievement was that Deputy Corbin placed first in the driving skills portion of the academy.

So when you all see Deputy Kat Corbin working at the courthouse, please congratulate her and welcome her to the team. She said she is excited and ready to serve and protect this community.

Last week Sheriff Sales and Deputy Kalisz of the Wi******er City Sheriff's Office continued the reading initiative to all the elementary schools in our area. Today we visited John Kerr Elementary School. As usual, we brought along several guest readers with us. Every child was gifted a book to take home to share their reading experience with friends and family. Thank you to the Wi******er City Sheriff's Office Foundation Non Profit for funding this program and purchasing these books for our youth to enjoy.

Big shout out to Sheriff Lenny Millholland of the Frederick County Virginia Sheriff's Office for joining us again on another reading session. After the reading, Sheriff Millholland did a great job of answering all the questions the students had about law enforcement. There were some very good and interesting questions!

Thank you Councilwoman Terry Sloane for coming out and reading to the kids. It is great to have our local community leaders take time out of their schedules to promote the importance of reading to our students. Thank you for donating your time Councilwoman Sloane.

Special thanks to Nancy Campbell and Dr. Miles Davis for reading to our youth today. They also spoke to the kids about the importance of reading and being leaders in our community.

As always, the biggest thanks goes out to the teachers, staff and parents for allowing this time for us to promote reading in our schools. Thank you all for investing your time and efforts in all these young lives.

Finally Sheriff Sales would like to thank the students for presenting personalized banners to him after the reading session. Sheriff Sales was very excited about the gifts. The banners will be displayed in his office at the courthouse.
