Breaking News: Prezzy Seeks Republican Nomination for Ward Four City Council, Secures Major Endorsement
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Nate Prezzy Announces Candidacy for Wi******er City Council Ward 4, Secures Endorsement of Retiring Councilor Kathy Tagnesi, Councilor.
WI******ER, Va. – Lt. Col. (Ret.) Nathaniel “Nate” Prezzy, a retired U.S. Army officer and senior Pentagon civilian with 44 years of leadership in efficiency, accountability, and strategic planning, today announced his candidacy for the Ward 4 seat on the Wi******er City Council. Prezzy is seeking the Republican nomination to succeed current Ward 4 Councilor Kathy Tagnesi.
Councilor Tagnesi has given Prezzy her full and enthusiastic endorsement, writing:
“I proudly support Nate, whose leadership and vision will guide our Ward 4 and community forward. Please join me in supporting Nate as our Ward 4 City Councilor.”
A 23-year resident of Wi******er alongside his wife, Jean, Prezzy is stepping forward to bring proven, results-driven leadership and common-sense solutions to City Hall during a critical time for Wi******er's growth and downtown development.
“I am running to bring common-sense solutions and military-honed accountability to the City Council,” Prezzy stated. “Wi******er has been good to my family, and I want to ensure it remains affordable, safe, and vibrant for every resident - whether you’ve lived here for decades or just moved to Ward 4.”
Prezzy’s campaign is built on three core priorities for Ward 4 and the broader Wi******er community:
Smart Spending, Not More Taxes: Treat every tax dollar like it’s our own. Prezzy will aggressively cut waste and find efficiencies first - just as he did throughout his Army and Pentagon career - before ever considering a tax increase.
Downtown Safety & Revitalization: Support permanent safety improvements to the downtown pedestrian mall and Boscawen Street project while actively protecting local businesses and economic vitality.
Responsible Growth & Housing: Champion smart, balanced development that respects neighborhoods, supports targeted opportunities, and ensures new growth pays its fair share to keep taxes affordable for current residents.
A highly decorated leader, Prezzy retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of active duty, including multiple Inspector General assignments. He subsequently served 21 years as a civilian at the Pentagon, rising to Division Chief in the Army Inspector General Agency, where he oversaw high-priority investigations and enterprise-wide efficiency reviews. He is a graduate of the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. Locally, he has served as Chairman of the Wi******er City Advisory Board for the Virginia Department of Social Services.
“With strong leadership, fiscal discipline, and a clear vision for the future, Wi******er’s best days are still ahead,” Prezzy concluded. “I look forward to earning the trust of Ward 4 voters.”
