It’s hard to imagine living without things we take for granted in the 21st century.
Hot showers. Hair dryers. Refrigeration. Video on demand. Waking up to a day without electricity means losing many necessities and conveniences that power our routines.

Life is better with electricity, and it’s an incredible value.

Many might say the most wonderful time of the year is here: dove season is right around the corner. Remember when you’re out in the field to follow basic safe gun handling practices, including pointing the muzzle away from people, wearing ear and eye protection, not firing at low birds, and not shooting birds off electric wires.

Shooting at birds on wires could cause damage to the wiring, and in some instances, could cause a power failure.

Enjoy the fellowship and tradition of the season, but keep you and your fellow hunters safe!

In 1997, the biggest marketing advantage in EKPC history (and across the nation) occurred when Touchstone Energy was introduced as the moniker under which all cooperatives could collectively market and brand themselves.

The tagline was (and still is), "Touchstone Energy: The power of human connections." In its 1997 annual report, EKPC CEO Roy Palk said in the report’s opening letter, “In the advertising industry, a brand is simply a company's image with consumers, which will become increasingly important as competition grows in the energy business. With Touchstone Energy, co-op marketing programs nationwide will emphasize that co-ops are not just businesses. They're made up of friends and neighbors who are dedicated to their local communities.”

That idea remains true today. Known as Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, EKPC and its owner-members continue to serve members under that brand name in most public-facing marketing and communications endeavors.

This year EKPC, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative for nearly 30 years now, is celebrating serving members for 85 years.

If you work from home and rely on a computer for productivity and communication, you need a UPS — uninterruptible power supply. A UPS can give you power for period of time even if the power goes out so you can save your work and shut down properly. It also keeps your computer safe from power surges.

EKPC General Counsel David Samford spoke Friday to local elected officials at the 50th annual Governor's Local Issues Conference, describing how the co-op's Data Center Power Tariff provides strong protections to ensure data centers pay all of the costs associated with providing for their electricity needs.
