Have you heard? Virginia is transitioning to more secure SNAP EBT chip cards to protect your benefits from theft and skimming. ๐Ÿ”Š

Once you receive your new card this fall:
- Activate it right away
- Set a secure new PIN
- Lock your card when not in use
- Change your PIN regularly for extra protection

Your balance will transfer automatically once you activate the new card. All Virginia EBT customers should expect to receive their chip cards by December 31, 2026.

**OCTOBER 1 IS ALMOST HERE**

Beginning October 1, 2026, changes to Medicaid eligibility for certain non-citizens will take effect.

Medicaid for non-citizen adults (who are not pregnant or within 12 months after giving birth) will be limited to:

Legal Permanent Residents
Cuban-Haitian entrants
COFA migrants

Adults who lose full Medicaid may still qualify for Emergency Medicaid, which provides limited coverage for emergency room, labor and delivery, and life-saving treatment like dialysis. These changes do not affect children or pregnant/postpartum individuals.

The Wi******er Department of Social Services team is out at Harvest Ridge Park for Neighborhood Night, and we'd love for you to come see us!
