The paving project at the Wi******er City Park boat dock parking area will be completed today! We know the closure caused a little inconvenience, but we think you’ll agree the smooth new surface was worth the wait.

So dust off the life jackets, fuel up the boat, and get ready to hit Tims Ford Lake tomorrow. Even better, if you’re looking for some fun on the water, check out the Franklin County Chamber’s Poker Run happening on the lake tomorrow.

One small favor: the parking lines haven’t been painted yet, so we’re operating under the highly advanced parking system known as “common sense.” Please park courteously and leave room for others so everyone can enjoy the lake.

See you at the park!

UPDATE: Old Estill Springs Road has REOPENED and is no longer closed to traffic.

***************************************

Traffic Update – Old Estill Road Closure

Beginning at 8:00 AM today at Old Estill Road will be closed to through traffic between the Wi******er Swimplex and the walking trail while crews replace the steel plates currently covering the roadway. Once closed, it will remain closed for several days.

As a temporary repair, the steel plates will be removed and replaced with reinforced concrete, providing a much smoother surface for travel. Once lake water levels recede this winter, the city plans to complete a permanent repair by replacing the entire pipe.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we continue improving this area. While the steel plates weren't exactly part of the City's official traffic-calming plan, we're sure many drivers will be happy to see this unexpected "speed bump" become a thing of the past.

Please use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. We’ll provide updates as work progresses. Thank you for your cooperation!

Hey, folks!

We’ve received a few calls today about low flying aircraft over Cowan and Wi******er.

We have entered crop dusting and seeding season, and we have Air Tractors that are currently operating out of the airport.

We understand that low flying aircraft may be cause for concern, but air tractors are meant to be flying at low altitudes with highly trained pilots, and will only operate for a short period of time before flying to a new area.

We appreciate your efforts to notify us and we will continue to do our best to ensure the safety of both our pilots and neighbors here in Franklin County.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, the Wi******er Swimplex outdoor pool will be closed temporarily while we complete an emergency replacement of a pool pump.

It turns out the pump decided it was ready for an early retirement, and without it, even the pool needs a day off.

Our team is working to get the new pump installed as quickly as possible so everyone can get back to enjoying the water. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we make this necessary repair.

We will provide updates as soon as we have a reopening date.

Thank you for your understanding!
