Wednesday, May 13th, we were proud to host students from Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia for an in-depth class on 12-Lead ECG Critical Thinking for Cath Lab Activation. It was an excellent day of learning, collaboration, and advancing lifesaving skills.

A huge thank you to:

• Round Hill Community Fire and Rescue for graciously allowing us to use their social hall for the day's training
• Stryker for sponsoring the class and providing lunch for all participants
• Tim Phalen of ECG Solutions for delivering outstanding instruction and sharing his expertise

We’re grateful for the support and partnerships that help strengthen EMS education across our region. Together, we’re building a stronger, more prepared emergency medical community.

🚑❤️ EMS Week – Thursday Spotlight: Save‑A‑Life Day! ❤️🚑

Today we celebrate Save‑A‑Life Day, a powerful reminder that no matter how quickly EMS professionals arrive, bystanders are almost always the first on scene. Your actions in those first moments can truly make the difference between life and death.

Save‑A‑Life Day promotes public programs such as:
• CPR training
• Stop the Bleed education
• Other lifesaving skills that anyone can learn

This day empowers our community to step in, take action, and help save a life when seconds matter. It’s the perfect opportunity to sign up for or host a community CPR class or a Stop the Bleed course.

When the public is trained and prepared, our entire community becomes safer and stronger. Thank you for being a part of that mission.❤️🙌

🚑✨ EMS Week – Monday Spotlight: EMS Education Day! ✨🚑

Today we kick off EMS Week by celebrating EMS Education Day, a time dedicated to highlighting the vital role of public education and the ongoing professional training that keeps our EMS providers ready for anything.

Education is at the heart of prevention and preparedness. That’s why today is the perfect opportunity to explore or participate in community programs focused on preventing injuries and illnesses. Whether it’s learning how to reduce the risk of falls, burns, poisoning, or drowning, education saves lives long before an emergency ever happens.

Our EMS professionals also continue their own lifelong learning, from advanced skills training to specialized continuing education, ensuring they deliver the highest level of care when our community needs it most.

Together, through knowledge and preparedness, we build a safer Frederick County.

🚑💙 EMS WEEK 2026 • “Improving Outcomes, Together” 💙🚑

Today marks the start of National EMS Week, and this year’s theme: “Improving Outcomes, Together”, says everything about what makes EMS so extraordinary. Across Frederick County and across the nation, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, nurses, physicians, educators, administrators, and trained members of the public work side‑by‑side to deliver lifesaving care when it matters most.

EMS providers answer over 40 million calls for service every year. Behind every response is thousands of hours of training, continuing education, and a commitment to a people‑centered, evidence‑driven EMS system. Whether serving in an ambulance, teaching the community, practicing community paramedicine, or advancing research, EMS professionals continue to rise to the challenge in an ever‑changing environment.

This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the first National EMS Week, established in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to honor the frontline medical professionals who safeguard our communities. Today, we honor those who came before us, those who raised the bar, and those who continue to push EMS forward for the next generation.

Throughout the week, we’ll recognize the daily themes that highlight the heart of EMS:

EMS Education Day — Strengthening community education and professional development

EMS Safety Day — Focusing on safety, prevention, and mental health

EMS for Children Day — Improving specialized pediatric care

Save‑A‑Life Day — Empowering the public through CPR and Stop the Bleed

EMS Recognition Day — Honoring the heroes who go above and beyond

EMS Remembrance Day — Remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice

As we celebrate, we also pause to honor the EMS providers who have given their lives in the line of duty. In July, the National EMS Memorial Service will pay tribute to the 2025 honorees.

To every EMS provider in Frederick County and beyond: thank you. Thank you for your dedication, your resilience, your compassion, and your unwavering service to our community. You make a difference every single day.

Happy EMS Week and stay safe. 💙🚑
