Veterans Selected for Legacy of Freedom Event
Four local veterans have been selected to have their military service stories preserved through original songs written by professional Nashville songwriters from Freedom Sings USA as part of the Legacy of Freedom event.
The following veterans will participate in the in-person Legacy of Freedom songwriting retreat:
Stephanie Fields — Major (O-4), Kentucky Army National Guard
Aaron Lee Snyder — Sergeant (E-5), U.S. Marine Corps
Early Bryant Sosby Jr. — Colonel (O-6), U.S. Army
Michael Charles Preston — Sergeant First Class (E-7), U.S. Army
Two additional veterans have also been selected to receive original songs. Following the Legacy of Freedom retreat, Freedom Sings USA songwriters will continue working virtually with these veterans after returning to Nashville:
Michael Sparks — Senior Master Sergeant (E-8), U.S. Air Force
David Thompson — Specialist Four (E-4), U.S. Army
Each original song will honor the veteran’s service, experiences, and personal story, ensuring that their legacy is preserved through music for generations to come.
The program will also include a special tribute to 103-year-old World War II veteran Albert B. Wess Sr., who served as a driver with the legendary Red Ball Express. His remarkable service and contribution to the Allied war effort will be recognized during this evening of remembrance and gratitude.
The Legacy of Freedom dinner will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at Paris Elementary School, 1481 Main Street, Paris, Kentucky.
Advance tickets are required and must be purchased by September 13. Tickets will not be available at the door. Veterans attend free with proper ID, and guest tickets are $25.
