Happy Independence Day!

Rouss Fire Company purchased a used, dilapidated 1956 American LaFrance pumper in 1976.

In honor of the bicentennial that year, members decided to bring it back into its glory with a red, white, and blue paint scheme, instead of the traditional “Rouss Green” livery. Since the truck was not green, the Rouss name was not on it.

There are few known details about this pumper, it only served Rouss and Wi******er for a few years. But it is one of the most remembered pieces of apparatus we’ve had.

Prayers to our brothers and sisters involved in this tragic event.

It is with heavy heart that we announce the LODD of a LC-CFRS member in an incident that occurred earlier this evening. Fire and Rescue crews from Loudoun County, Fairfax County, and MWAA responded to a call for a gas leak on Silver Ridge Drive in Sterling. Firefighters made entry and as they were investigating, a catastrophic explosion occurred, injuring several responders from LCFR, SVFC, and Fairfax. One firefighter was determined deceased on scene and several others were transported to local area hospitals for medical treatment. The scene is active with law enforcement and fire and rescue personnel and the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. The identity of the deceased is behind withheld pending notification of next of kin. We appreciate the continued support of the community and our public safety partners during this difficult time, and will provide updates as available.

Congratulations to Firefighter and now Paramedic Jesse Walther, Station 5 South End, C-Shift on recently successfully passing the National Registry and officially becoming a paramedic with WFRD!

Yesterday during his shift, Master Technician A. Funkhouser noticed that the American flag used for ceremonial events needed to be cleaned. He and FF S. Dunn showed true pride and took the time to clean the flag.
