Public Notice: Water Line Flushing
Wi******er Municipal Utilities (WMU) will begin water line flushing on Monday, March 30, 2026.
During this time, you may notice fire hydrants being flushed and releasing large amounts of water. This process helps verify proper hydrant operation and removes mineral and sediment buildup from water mains, ensuring we continue to deliver the highest quality water possible.
What to expect:
Customers in areas near the flushing may experience temporary water discoloration due to loosened sediment in the lines. This is normal and does not affect water safety. The water should return to normal within 2–3 hours after flushing is completed.
Important recommendations:
Avoid washing clothes or performing water-sensitive tasks until the water runs clear
Limit or avoid using hot water during this time
Run a cold water faucet for a few minutes to help clear your lines before use
WMU will perform this work as efficiently as possible to minimize inconvenience.
