Here’s What’s Happening at the Park!!!
Friday, Sept. 4
3:00pm Camp Craft: Meal Planning, Storage, & Disposal: Taking a big group on a camping adventure, over a long weekend? Do you know how much food to take, how to store it, where to put it when you’re done? For the answers to these questions and many more, come to the Nature Center. 1 hour.
6:00pm Gourmet S’mores: Welcome to the Park! Are you interested in the weekend’s activities? Do you have some general park questions? Come by and try a gourmet campfire treat while you find some answers!!! Community Fire Ring, 2 hours.
Saturday, Sept. 5
10:00am Mussel Mania: Do you Love the Tippecanoe River? Fresh water mussels do too!!! Come learn why Mussels are important to people and the river, AND what we can do to help them stay in the river for years to come. Meet the Naturalist in the Nature Center, 30 minutes.
1:00pm River Otters: Join the naturalist to find out more about these curious creatures. Join us on the Patio at the Nature Center, 30 minutes.
6:00pm Build Your Own: Decorative bird or butterfly houses. Pick a house, build it, then paint it to make it your very own! Kits are $5. Nature Center Patio, 1 hour.
Sunday, Sept. 6
1:00pm Leather Stamping Project: The Naturalist will provide directions and tips for you to create your own Leather Stamping Project for a $5 donation to our Friends Group. Nature Center Patio, 1 hour
Monday, Sept. 7
1:00pm Walking Stick Program: Learn how to create your own walking stick and how to use it in the wild!!! For a $5 donation to our Friends Group, the naturalist will provide directions and safety tips. We also want to thank the Winamac Fish and Wildlife Area for providing the sticks! Nature Center Patio, 1 hour
Tuesday, Sept. 8
6:30pm Friends Group of Tippecanoe River State Park Meeting: Everyone is welcome!!! The Friends Group is a non-profit, volunteer group that supports the park! We do conservation activities, education, recreation, historic preservation, and promote the activities of the park.
