Today, Engine 1 had little extra help while responding to a call. This bird ended up in the engine and had a front row seat to the action!
It was released safely when they arrived on scene, with a great story to bring home to the nest🪺🐥

UPDATE: The owner of the goat has been located and the suspect has been released from custody.

Wilton Police Department and Wilton Fire Department recently responded to a report of a suspicious goat trespassing in the area of Danbury Road and Ridgefield Road.

The suspect was located, and taken into custody without incident, with the assistance of the Fire Department and transported to a secure holding facility (our animal shelter). The goat is currently being provided with fresh water, a safe place to stay, and all the accommodations afforded to a first-time offender.

At this time, we are attempting to identify and contact the owner. If this goat belongs to you, please contact the Wilton Police Department at 203-834-6260.

No charges have been filed, and the suspect has remained mostly cooperative throughout the investigation.

Thank you to UDS for coming to Wilton to provide preventative cancer screenings for the members of Wilton Fire.

It was great to have them, as occupational cancer in the fire service is ever increasing, and early detection is one of the best ways to combat it.

Thank you to UDS for providing this service to Fire Departments to ensure the health and well being of our members is a top priority!

Once he completes his day shift training over the coming weeks he will be assigned to one of our 4 shifts serving Wilton 24/7. Welcome Michael!!

Wilton Fire Dept- MVA: B shift,
E1 just cleared a previous call as E1&E4 were dispatched for an MVA entrapment possible fire. E2 was added to the assignment. E1 arrived & confirmed driver entrapment no fire. E1 driver began extrication on passenger side with hydraulic cutter and jaws of life. T5 arrived along with their compliment of e-draulic rescue tools and simultaneously completed removing passenger side components to allow for clear patient/access and removal. E2 arrived and crews assisted with pt care and extrication. Care was transferred to WVAC & Medic 500. Summary of resources and tools utilized:(1) e-Draulic spreader “jaws of life”, (2)-O-cutters, 1 hydraulic ram, sawzall, 6 firefighters.
Patient removal in 12 minutes.

This past week, 2 of our members were out in Las Vegas for the Strive for Excellence conference. Here they participated in 5 days off classroom and hands on training with thousands of other firefighters from across the US and Canada.

Some of this training included classes to hone their skills as Union officers as well as hands on fire tactics training to assist in fire ground operations.

They look forward to bringing back this knowledge to better serve and protect the Town of Wilton and the department!
