Correct the 13th Amendment: Abolish Slavery NOW When the 13th Amendment was passed by the U.S. Congress under President Lincoln's watch, the wording left the door open for the Prison Industrial Complex.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." This page seeks to gather support to amend the 13th Amendment or replace it by s

triking the phrase " except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted." By doing this, our U.S. Congress & our states can truly end slavery in our country and effectively dismantle the Prison Industrial Complex. The amended 13th (or new Amendment to the U.S. Constitution) should read:


"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, IN ANY FORM, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Congress shall have the power to enact legislation to enforce this amendment"


I hope you will join me in this effort to pressure our members of Congress to pass this correction through Congress and then organize our states to ratify this Amendment correction.
