HOPE STATION

A few weeks ago, I shared a simple but important need at Hope Station: dryers, mattresses, refrigerators, and stoves for individuals and families moving out of our shelter and into homes of their own.

And once again, our community showed up. 🥹

Because of the generosity of people right here in our community, almost every one of those needs has been met. We’ve even received additional household items that weren’t originally requested, things that will continue to make such a difference for the individuals and families we serve.

There are truly no words for how grateful and in awe I am of the people who continue to support Hope Station and all that we do. What makes it even more special is that many of those who donated didn’t want recognition or praise. They simply saw a need and said, “I can help.” 🥹🥹

Every appliance donated represents a family getting another piece of what they need to build a home. Every act of kindness reminds someone that their community believes in them and wants to see them succeed.

We still have one refrigerator left to find, but even as we work toward meeting that final need, we just want to pause and say:

Thank you.
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for giving quietly.
Thank you for believing in the people we serve.
And thank you for reminding us just how incredible our community can be.

We are truly grateful. 🩵🩵🩵

International Overdose Awareness Day ‼️

Today, we remember the people we’ve lost to overdose and the families, friends, and communities forever changed by their loss.

The empty chair represents the space left behind, a mother, father, child, sibling, friend, coworker, or neighbor who should still be here.

But this chair also represents hope. Hope for recovery. Hope for healing. Hope for fewer empty chairs.

Today, we remember, honor, and stand with those affected by overdose. 💜

Time to Remember. Time to Act.

Update: We have 2 stoves being donated tomorrow!!! 🥳🥳🥳

We are currently helping several shelter clients transition into permanent housing, and we are in need of the following items:

2 Stoves
2 Refrigerators
Twin Mattress
Dryer

These items will help individuals and families move from our shelters into stable housing and begin their next chapter with the essentials they need.

If you have any of these items available to donate, or would like to help us purchase them, please contact our Program Director (Amanda Creech) or Social Worker (John Apol).
Every donation makes a direct impact on someone working hard to rebuild their life.

☀️ End of Summer Bash at Hope Station! 💦

Today was a special one. Our shelter residents, staff, their families, and volunteers all came together for an afternoon of food, laughter, and FUN! The water balloons and squirters were definitely a HUGE hit! 😂

Life can be hard. There are people who are carrying things no one else can see, and sometimes you just need a few hours to set it all down. Today, for a little while, everyone got to forget about the hard stuff and simply enjoy being together. And honestly? That was the best part.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated money, supplies, food, or anything else to help make today possible. Your generosity gave our residents something priceless: a day to just be kids, families, and friends. 🩵

We are quickly approaching the deadline to accept donations for our End of Summer Bash this Friday!

So far, we have received Gatorade, plastic silverware, and a few monetary donations that will help us purchase any remaining needed items.

If you plan to donate, please have all donations delivered to our office by Tuesday, August 11. This will give us enough time to purchase any remaining supplies and ensure this event is a success for our shelter residents.

We are excited to host our 1st Annual End of Summer Bash on August 14 for the residents of our Family Shelter and Men's Shelter!

Our goal is to give the individuals and families we serve a fun-filled day of games, food, laughter, and community. Many of our shelter residents have faced significant challenges, and we want to create a special day where they can relax, connect, and simply enjoy being together.

We are asking for the community's help to make this event a success! We are currently seeking donations of:

• Hula hoops
• Jump ropes
• Giant Jenga
• Sidewalk chalk
• Sports balls

• Juice boxes for children
• Small bottles of Gatorade
• Condiments

We’re incredibly grateful to the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson for investing in our “Eat Healthy, Move More” initiative through their Responsive Grant Program. 🩵

Because of their support, our clients didn’t just receive healthy food, they gained practical cooking skills, nutrition education, encouragement, and confidence to build healthier habits for themselves and their families.

Today, we say thank you and see you later to our incredible summer intern, Rosa, on her last day at Hope Station! 💙

Through the Healthcare Foundation’s Interns for Impact program, we had the privilege of welcoming Rosa to our team this summer. During her time with us, she jumped in wherever she was needed from assisting in our food pantry and organizing donations to updating community resource information, supporting daily operations, and helping us better serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

Rosa’s positive attitude and compassionate heart made a meaningful impact on both our staff and the individuals we serve. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and dedication she brought to Hope Station.

A special thank you to the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson for making opportunities like this possible through the Interns for Impact program. Investing in future leaders while strengthening local nonprofits creates a lasting impact in our community.
