E. Stanley Jones School of Mission and Ministry - SMM

E. Stanley Jones School of Mission and Ministry - SMM The E. Stanley Jones School of Mission and Ministry combines two existing schools (E.

"...prepares evangelists, leaders in justice ministries, church planters, pastors, missionaries, mission leaders, professors, faith-based NGO leader/practitioners, and scholars for the apostolic mission of the church around the world..." Stanley Jones School of World Mission and Evangelism and the Beeson School of Practical Theology) into one new integrated school. This allows for greater interdis

ciplinary collaboration between the critical areas of mission, discipleship, worship, preaching, church planting, and leadership (to mention just a few). Students benefit from increased integration between the disciplines of mission and ministry to better equip pastors, leaders, missionaries, evangelists, church planters, and other ministries in service to church and society. The school oversees mission and ministry degree programs on the Kentucky campus and throughout Asbury Seminary Global. Stanley Jones School of Mission and Ministry houses the Beeson International Center for Preaching & Leadership and the Center for Church Multiplication. These two outward-facing Centers will facilitate innovative co-curricular activities in preaching, leadership, missional discipleship, and church planting.

Update:

Dear ESJ SMM students, faculty, and staff,

We regret to inform you that due to severe weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2024 Fall Fellowship Gathering scheduled for Friday, September 27.

The safety of our participants and staff is our top priority, and with the current forecast indicating potential thunderstorms with strong winds, we believe this is the best course of action.

While we would love to reschedule it for a later date, we know that many of our faculty and students will be engaged in multiple ways across campus in October and November.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you at our Christmas gathering, scheduled for December 6.

"How should we, as missionaries, pastors, and church workers, prepare for our ministries? It is increasingly clear that we must master the skill of human exegesis as well as biblical exegesis to meaningfully communicate the gospel in human contexts. We need to study the social, cultural, psychological, and ecological systems in which humans live in order to communicate the gospel in ways the people we serve understand and believe. Requiring only a course or two on human exegesis is like preparing a doctor by teaching him to put on Band-Aids, stitch wounds, and administer artificial resuscitation. Christian missions and ministries are as complex as medicine and open heart surgery, and, consequently, they require a deep understanding of humans to be effective."
Paul G. Hiebert, The Gospel In Human Contexts (12)

Meet our faculty and staff! We look forward to working with you this academic year.
