We will be starting to send out information for the start of the school year via Dojo and Holmes' Facebook. Please keep an eye out for updated information.

Please use the link below to sign up for a time to meet your child's homeroom teacher at open house. If you have not received your child's teacher in the mail (BLUE post card) please give us a call at 937-382-2750 beginning Tuesday, August 6th between 8:30 AM- 3:30 PM.

DENVER OPEN HOUSE

OPEN HOUSE Save the date for the K-5 Open Houses which will be on August 12th form 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For Open House you will sign up for a designated time to meet the homeroom teacher. CLASS ASSIGNMENTS Your child’s class assignments/teachers were already mailed out. Be on the lookout for a Yellow postcard from Denver. There will NOT be any class lists posted at the buildings. This card will have your child’s homeroom teacher bolded and underlined. There will also be the partner teacher(s). If you have not received your postcard by Wednesday, August 7, please call the Denver office.

Good Afternoon Holmes Families,

It is almost that time...the beginning of the school year! We are looking forward to another great year here at Holmes. There are a few IMPORTANT DATES I wanted to share with you today as you may be thinking about the beginning of the school year.

DENVER & HOLMES CLASS PLACEMENTS- Class placements will be mailed in the US Mail to homes on August 1st. Be on the look out for post card in your mailboxes for Denver and Holmes placements.
Denver will be YELLOW postcards.
Holmes will be BLUE postcards.

HOLMES SCAVENGER HUNT- (see flyer attached)
When: August 5th
Time: 10:30-12:00
The Holmes Scavenger Hunt is a great way BEFORE Open House to have your child come and begin to get ready for school by getting familar with the school.
Kids will receive a Bingo Card to find specific areas around the building. Once your card is full, you receive a prize!

Denver & Holmes OPEN HOUSE- will be August 12th from 5:00-7:30 PM. More information on this as we near the date.

Kindergarten Registration- NOW is the TIME!

Do you or someone you know has a child who may be Kindergarten Eligible?

Children who are 5 years old on or before August 1st are eligible for entrance into Kindergarten at WCS for the upcoming school year. Parents can pick up a paper packet at Central Office (341 S Nelson Ave) or request a digital packet using the link below.

Due to the inclement weather, Wilmington City Schools will be CLOSED today- Jan. 19.

We look forward to seeing everyone Monday!

All Wilmington City Schools are on a 2 hour delay for Wednesday, Jan. 17th.

Holmes begins school at 11:15.
Car riders/Cab riders can begin to be dropped off at 11:00 AM

No breakfast is served on delay days.

Dismissal is at regular time which begins at 3:30.

We look forward to seeing our students at the delayed time.

Dear Holmes Families,

All students and families are welcome to visit classrooms, bring supplies and meet teachers TOMORROW (Aug. 14) between 5:00-7:30 PM.

Please make sure to visit the lobby, orange hallway and near the library as there will be district and communitry resources such as a representative from Transportation, Cafeteria, The school nurses, Counseling services (with free supplies if you are still in need), The PTO and girl scouts.

All Placards are in the students' homerooms. If you have multiple students, they will be in your oldest chi;d's homeroom. If you ddin't get one, please visit the office.

More Back to School Information - contuinued

Dear Holmes Families,

We were excited to see so many people for the Scavenger Hunt today. We hope it was fun to find the different parts of the building.

What is my child's official school day time?
The school day starts for students at 9:15. Students begin dismissal at 3:30.

Arrival for cars/cabs- begins at 9:00 AM
Dismissal for cars/cabs & busses- begins at 3:30 PM

When will I get my Placard (car rider sign)?
If you registered for a placard (which is used if you pick up your child), it will be in your child's homeroom at Open House. If you have multiple students in one building, it will be in the oldest child's homeroom. If you have children at Denver and Holmes you will get one for each building and you will pick them up at that building.
If you did not register for a placard, you can stop by the office at Open House.

My child will need to take medication at school, what do I need to do?
There are specific forms which need to be filled out whether it is over the counter medicaiton or prescription. An ADULT needs to bring the medication in to the school. It is not safe for students to backpack the medication to school at any time. If you have questions, please call our office at 937-382-2750.

TOMORROW, Aug. 10th- Holmes Scavenger Hunt
Time: 10:30-12:00PM
PARKING: Park ONLY in the side lot. We are having the front lot re-done and it will not be able to be parked on quite yet.

We look forward to welcoming everyone for the scavenger hunt tomorrow at Holmes. Come get a game board and then find all the places to earn a cold treat! This is a time for everyone to come and see where their classrooms are located and take a walk around the building and even play outside on the playground!

HOLMES OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION

We are excited to invite everyone in to meet their teachers as well as gather information from our Nurses, Cafeteria and Transportation. Open House is Monday, August 14th at Holmes.

Class Placements were mailed Monday, August 7th. If you have not received your placement card (BLUE) then please give our office a call between 8:30-3:30 at 937-382-2750. You will need the homeroom teacher's name to sign up for a time for open house.

Transportation Information
The transportation department will be sending post cards out Thursday, Aug. 10th to families about bus routes and pickup/drop off times. Please be on the lookout for this information in the mail.

Unfortunatley, the YMCA will not be providing child care before and after school due to staffing shortages. Please see the flyer attached for a list of child care in the area.

We want to begin to provide you with some information you may be thinking about now for back to school as well as you can always find information on our website at www.wilmingtoncityschools.com/holmes-grades-k-2/.

Monday, August 14 will be OPEN HOUSE at Holmes. Please stay tuned for more information on how to sign up for a specific time to meet your child's teacher on August 14th.

PLACARDS
Placards are the cards you put in your dashboard if you are going to be picking up your child. These are great to have if your child is a car rider on a regular or semi-regular basis so you do not have to show your ID all the time. If you have not signed up for one this year, please use the link below. This link is for both Holmes and Denver. The placards will be ready to be picked up at Open House.
