“I find it really, really problematic that an elected official, a sitting elected official who’s been in office for 24 years, is telling another elected official that they’ll give them close to an $80,000-a-year job to stay off the primary ballot,” Caneco said.

Despite investigations into New Castle County Recorder of Deeds Michael Kozikowski's job offer, he's not dropping out of the race.

I’m saddened to hear about this pay to play behavior by a sitting elected official in county government. Over the next few days my office will be formally requesting a review by the NCC Ethics Commission on this behavior.

Mike Kozikowski, New Castle County’s recorder of deeds, promised County Councilman David Tackett a $76,295-a-year post to stay off the primary ballot.

🚨An ethics win! On Tuesday, I introduced a Rule Change to the way our body operates. My rule change banned any mass taxpayer funded mailing from a district office to residents 90 days prior to an election. This is to ensure taxpayer money is not being used to influence elections. After some discussion this rule change passed Council that night. We will continue to fight for transparency in government. More to come…

Earlier in July I was pleased to see Starwood Ventures pull their flawed appeal. What concerns me now, is they are once again misleading the public. Within the article Starwood spokesman states “is continuing its work with state and local regulators, labor, and the entire community to find a pathway forward for the project.” That is not true, they have not reached out to me or any local leader I’m aware of. This is why we need to watch these private equity companies like a hawk. They learned the hard way you don’t come into the 12th District and do what you want without local collaboration. I caution them to not learn again.

Plans for a massive data center to be built near Delaware City appear to be at a dead end, at least in their current form.
