Friends of Historic Memorial Hall

Friends of Historic Memorial Hall Friends of Historic Memorial Hall preserves the historic Hall and champions arts in the Deerfield Valley.

We partner with artists and groups to present music, theater, film, and events, ensuring the Hall remains a vibrant, welcoming cultural hub for all. Friends of Historic Memorial Hall is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to making Memorial Hall the cultural heart of the Deerfield Valley. For over a century, the Hall has been a place where the community gathers for music, theater, film, and sh

ared celebrations. We carry that tradition forward by preserving the building and curating programs that bring people together through the arts. Our mission is to champion arts and cultural opportunities that inspire, connect, and enrich the lives of those who live, work, and visit here. We work with local, regional, and touring artists to present performances and events that reflect the diversity and creativity of our region. As one of the area’s most active cultural presenters, Friends of Historic Memorial Hall strives to make the Hall a welcoming space for all—whether you’re stepping on stage, taking a seat in the audience, or lending your time and talent behind the scenes. Together, we’re ensuring that Memorial Hall remains a vibrant home for the arts in the Valley for generations to come.

One of our first stories we'll be retelling will be a version of The Emperor's New Clothes where a mayor commissions a new coat and finds herself shocked by the fabric selection.

Want to hear the rest? Join us over at Memorial for Once Upon a Time Sunday morning at 10am!

There are still a few spots open if you've been on the fence.

The Songwriter's Workshop wraps up with something optional but worth knowing about.

On July 9, participants are invited to perform what they've been working on at Memorial Hall — a real stage, a public audience, tickets at the door.

Some of you will want that. Some of you won't, and that's completely fine. The workshop is its own thing.

But if you've ever wanted a real reason to finish a song and play it for people — this is a pretty good one.

Tickets for the showcase are available now for anyone who just wants to come and listen, too. Register here: https://friendsofthehallvt.org/product/the-songwriters-workshop/

This Valley has no shortage of great musicians.

On any given weekend there's live music somewhere in town, and that's genuinely something to be proud of.

But I've been thinking about the next layer. The one where writers are finishing songs together, hearing each other's work, and pushing each other somewhere new.

It took me almost a year after moving here before I actually met most of the other musicians in the Valley — because we were always playing on the same nights, and there was never a natural time to just be in the same room.

The Songwriter's Workshop is that room. It starts June 10.

This is the room.

The Speakeasy at White House Inn is a great place to play. It feels like good place to write, too.

Small enough to feel like a real conversation. Comfortable enough that you can finish that song that's been bouncing around in your head.

The Songwriter's Workshop meets here every Wednesday in June — June 10, 17, 24, and July 1 at 6pm.

Spots are still open. Register here: https://friendsofthehallvt.org/product/the-songwriters-workshop/
