Friends of Historic Memorial Hall

Friends of Historic Memorial Hall Friends of Historic Memorial Hall preserves the historic Hall and champions arts in the Deerfield Valley.

We partner with artists and groups to present music, theater, film, and events, ensuring the Hall remains a vibrant, welcoming cultural hub for all. Friends of Historic Memorial Hall is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to making Memorial Hall the cultural heart of the Deerfield Valley. For over a century, the Hall has been a place where the community gathers for music, theater, film, and shared celebrations. We carry that tradition forward by preserving the building and curating programs that bring people together through the arts. Our mission is to champion arts and cultural opportunities that inspire, connect, and enrich the lives of those who live, work, and visit here. We work with local, regional, and touring artists to present performances and events that reflect the diversity and creativity of our region. As one of the area’s most active cultural presenters, Friends of Historic Memorial Hall strives to make the Hall a welcoming space for all—whether you’re stepping on stage, taking a seat in the audience, or lending your time and talent behind the scenes. Together, we’re ensuring that Memorial Hall remains a vibrant home for the arts in the Valley for generations to come.

Four decades of songs, one night in the Speakeasy at White House In .

John Gerard has spent a career writing the in-between moments — the hopeful ones, the vulnerable ones, the ones you don’t talk about at parties. Born in Paris, raised in Massachusetts, and by now one of New England’s most quietly essential songwriters.

He stepped away from music for a while. Came back with a stack of new material his peers are calling the best work he’s ever done.

The Boston Globe has written about him. He’s opened for Grammy-nominated songwriter Lori McKenna at Club Passim. And on September 17, he’s playing a room with about forty seats in it.

If you love Gregory Alan Isakov, Damien Rice, or Noah Kahan — clear your Thursday.

Wow, what a summer.

1776 put a full cast on the Memorial Hall stage in July. Rooted filled the room in August with original music made right here in the Valley. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, brought a friend, ran a light board, or just showed up downtown because something good was happening.

Now September.

The Speakeasy Series is back Thursday, September 17 with Shannon Roy and John Gerard.

Shannon brings the grit — an Army veteran who pulls rock, blues, and folk into something one writer called "Stevie Nicks' tough cousin." A lot of you know Shannon. This is the night you hear her own songs.

John's coming in from Leominster, MA — forty years of soul-baring lyrics and serious guitar, with stops at Club Passim opening for Lori McKenna. First time in the Valley.

Doors 6:30, music at 7. $20. The Speakeasy at The White House Inn.

40 seats. That's the whole room.

Ian Campbell and his band will be closing the night at Rooted again this year. Last year, Rooted started as Ian’s album release/birthday party. It was so well received that we decided to bring it back as a Friends production this year!

Jill Sachs is going to be playing the middle slot at Rooted again this year, but this time she’s bringing company. You’re probably familiar with Jill’s solo work, but this is a rare opportunity to get to see her with a full band behind her!
