Hurricane season 2026 is here and we all know how quickly chaos can hit, which is why it's time to prepare!

Later this month, we’re transforming Plaza on Princess into the New Hanover Disaster Coalition Command Center for a critical disaster simulation exercise.

While we test out the workflow in Plaza, we need you to build the plan that keeps your household safe.

The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is underway—are you ? Residents are encouraged to take time now to create/update your emergency plan, build a supply kit and register for local emergency alerts.

School is almost out and StepUp Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College have partnered to prepare your teenager to get a job! Spots are limited - sign up now!

Big news for teens in the Wilmington area! 🎉💙

StepUp Wilmington has officially partnered with Cape Fear Community College to bring our Teen Job Readiness Workshop to CFCC's downtown campus this summer - and we could not be more excited!

This FREE 2.5-day interactive experience is designed to help teens ages 16–19 build real confidence and real skills for whatever comes next - whether that's a career, college, or military service.

Here's what students can expect:
✅ Resume building and interview practice
✅ Confidence, professionalism, and communication skills
✅ Guest speakers and connections with local employers and colleges
✅ Career exploration tailored to their goals
✅ CEU credits - plus lunch and snacks provided every day! 🍔

And after completing the workshop? Continued mentoring, possible financial assistance to upskill, and real-world connections like job shadowing and internships.

This weekend, The Harrelson Center was proud to be present in spaces where connection, support, and awareness matter most. 💙🕊

Michelle represented us at The Community Baby Shower hosted by Novant, sharing resources and support with growing families.

Margee represented us at The Veterans Memorial Reef Ceremony, honoring and recognizing those who have served our country.

Christy represented The Harrelson Center at The Disaster Preparedness Expo, helping connect the community with important information and resources during times of uncertainty.

At The Harrelson Center, we believe showing up matters. Whether it’s supporting families, honoring veterans, or helping our community prepare for emergencies, we are committed to being present where awareness is needed most.

Our center is connected to more than 40 nonprofit partners working together to serve our community through housing support, healthcare access, financial assistance, disaster relief, food security, family services, and so much more. When one need arises, there is often another resource right down the hall.

Because community impact happens far beyond our walls and sometimes awareness is the first step to changing a life. 💫
