Trooper First Class Alyssa Santangelo was recognized with a State of Delaware Senate Tribute initiated by Mill Creek Fire Company Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas J. Baronie, signed by David McBride, President Pro Tempore, Joy Bower, Secretary of State, Senator David Sokola, and Senator Anthony Delcollo for her exceptional performance and quick actions. On June 19th, 2020, TFC. Santangelo responded to a fully involved vehicle fire at Campanella Auto Repairs where she located a vehicle on fire with an exposure to a building. Deputy Fire Chief Baronie stated, “She performed a fire attack with a 4 lbs. fire extinguisher which only provides anywhere from 15 to 30 seconds of extinguishment when used. Trooper Santangelo successfully protected the building exposure and extinguished vegetation and partially extinguished the vehicle that was on fire. This is a remarkable accomplishment given the extinguisher available for use. Trooper Santangelo displayed Valor and Honor through her dedication to the preservation of life and property. Her actions prevented multiple crews of firefighters from facing an even greater danger on arrival to the incident. If it had not been for her quick thinking and actions, this incident would have escalated into far more dangerous and hazardous conditions.”
The Troop 6 Administration is exceptionally proud of TFC. Santangelo for her quick and decisive actions, that prevented the destruction of a business in our community, and the risk to our partners in the Mill Creek Fire Company, and supporting Fire Companies. This is one of many examples of the professional and proficient services, and partnerships that the Delaware State Police has with its Fire Service Community to serve and protect our Delaware communities.
