Limen Recovery and Wellness is a sober living residence, established in 1969, for men and women in recovery from drug and alcohol dependency.

Our mission is to offer a threshold to recovery and break the cycle of addiction in service to our community. Success through Partnerships and Generous Donors

In addition to generous contributions, many ancillary services are necessary to provide our clients the best opportunity for long-term recovery. Our valuable partnerships with other social service agencies in the community help our program

be as successful as it is over the last forty years. These agencies include: Kirkwood Detox, Child Inc., Connections CSP, SOAR Inc., TASC, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Food Bank of Delaware, AIDS Delaware, the YMCA, Catholic Charities, Goodwill and West End Neighborhood House. The above list is not all encompassing and we are proud that Limen House is at the forefront of coordinating services within the community.

Recovery can change everything. 💚

Before May 5, 2024, Stacy describes feeling hopeless, alone, and unsure if life could ever look different. When she came to Limen Recovery + Wellness, she found a place to begin rebuilding.

During her 14 months at Limen, Stacy committed herself to recovery, built meaningful relationships, and began rediscovering who she was.

Today, she has a job she loves, is reconnecting with her family and children, and wakes up grateful for the life she once thought was out of reach.

“It is never too late, but you have to want it and put in the work.”

September is National Recovery Month.

Recovery is often described by what someone stops doing.
But over time, it can also be understood by what begins to return.

Trust. Energy. Responsibility. Humor. Work. Plans. Relationships. The ability to be present for an ordinary day.

Not everything returns at once, and recovery does not erase what came before. It creates room to live differently now.

That is worth recognizing.

This month, we celebrate people doing the work of recovery and the families, peers, professionals, and communities who help make that work possible.

Limen Recovery + Wellness is hiring a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LPCMH/LCSW) to join our growing clinical team. 💚

This role provides behavioral health services to adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, including assessments, individualized treatment planning, individual and group counseling, crisis support, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team.

Safety can mean more than being out of immediate danger.

It can mean knowing what to expect. Having a place to rest. Being able to speak honestly. Learning that support will remain present on an ordinary day.

One resident described that experience this way:
“When I got here, I finally felt safe. For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t simply surviving. I was learning how to live again.”

A person can be committed to recovery and still struggle when the environment around them is unstable.

Sober living offers more than a place to stay. It can provide routine, shared expectations, accountability, and connection with others who understand the work of recovery.

A stable environment does not remove every difficulty.

It gives people a stronger place from which to meet it.

Recovery and long-term stability don’t happen in isolation. They’re strengthened when housing, recovery support, employment opportunities, community resources, and second chances come together.

We were proud to attend the Building Bridges to Success Expungement Clinic & Community Resource Fair, where we were able to showcase the combined strengths of Limen and Friendship House of Delaware and what’s possible when we work together.
