โœจ Volunteer Spotlight: Erin & Kelly โœจ

This week, we are excited to shine a light on two amazing Hope House volunteers, Erin and Kelly, who faithfully help with housekeeping every Monday. Their dedication helps create a clean, welcoming, and comfortable space for the women and children we serve. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿงน Meet Erin
Erin first learned about Hope House through Facebook and our volunteer open house. She was drawn to volunteering because she enjoys helping others, cleaning, and listening to podcasts while she works.

One of Erinโ€™s greatest strengths is her attention to detail. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, she finds joy and satisfaction in making sure everything is clean and welcoming for our guests.

When asked what helps her feel appreciated, Erin shared that she loves the Christmas gift bags volunteers receive, but even more, she values the sense of community that comes from being part of Hope House.

โ˜• Favorite Treats: Frappรฉs and chocolate chip cookies

๐Ÿ™ Prayer Request: โ€œThat I can show my students the love of Jesus.โ€

๐Ÿงน Meet Kelly
Kelly also discovered Hope House through Facebook and our volunteer open house. She decided to volunteer because it gave her an opportunity to spend time with friends while serving the community.

Kelly brings a willing heart and a strong work ethic to housekeeping each week. Her dedication helps keep Hope House clean, organized, and ready to welcome guests.

When asked what makes her feel appreciated, Kelly shared that the rewarding feeling of helping others is what means the most to her.

๐Ÿฅค Favorite Treats: Mountain Dew and chocolate

๐Ÿ’™ We are incredibly grateful for both Erin and Kelly. Their service may happen behind the scenes, but the impact they make is seen every day in the comfort and care our guests experience.

๐ŸŒŸ Hope House Hostess Spotlight: Miriam Speight ๐ŸŒŸ

This week, we are honored to spotlight Miriam Speight, a dedicated Hope House hostess whose compassionate heart and steady presence have blessed both our guests and our team.

Miriam first learned about Hope House through Katie Terrell. After coming to observe, she felt called to become a hostess and has been faithfully serving ever since.

One of the gifts Miriam brings to Hope House is her ability to remain calm during stressful and emergency situations. She also has a deep passion for healing prayer and has spent years ministering to others through prayer and encouragement. In addition, Miriam has been an advocate for Hope House in our community, even speaking before City Council on behalf of our mission.

When asked what she enjoys most about serving, Miriam shared that she loves being an overnight hostess, providing a safe and supportive presence for the women we serve. She also enjoys offering prayer support and speaking to groups and individuals about Hope House.

Miriam says that what helps her feel supported is her connection with God and the friendships she has built with fellow hostesses who share a common compassion for the women at Hope House.

Her prayer request is simple yet powerful:
โ€œPray that I have the strength and energy to continue this work which I feel God wants me to do.โ€

Miriam, thank you for your faithful service, your calming presence, your prayers, and your heart for the women of Hope House. We are grateful for all you do. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŒบ Hostess of the Week: Patricia Thomas ๐ŸŒบ

This week we are honored to spotlight Patricia Thomas, a faithful and compassionate part of the Hope House family. ๐Ÿ’™

About ten years ago, Patricia attended an informational lunch about Hope House and felt led to step outside her comfort zone to serve women experiencing homelessness in our Wilmington community. Since then, she has become a steady presence of kindness, patience, humor, and grace for both our guests and volunteers.

Patricia shares that one of the greatest blessings of volunteering is serving alongside other women who give their time and compassion so generously. Whether sheโ€™s hosting overnight, helping administratively, or speaking to groups about the mission of Hope House, she brings an open heart and empathetic spirit everywhere she serves.

One fun fact? Every hostessing night includes her trusty bag of Cheetos ๐Ÿงกโœจ
