💡Member Spotlight: Good Shepherd Center

Good Shepherd Center has been a part of our Coalition since the very beginning. This month, they are celebrating the grand opening of The Sparrow, their newest Permanent Supportive Housing community that will provide 32 affordable apartments with on site services to chronically homeless adults with disabilities. That means 32 of our neighbors now living in the safety and dignity of a home, and a significant reduction in our community’s unsheltered population. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this accomplishment and that you’ll check out their page to learn more!

At our 2026 Breakfast, Harold Mallette and Jonathan Barry-Blocker from the Men of Southeast Raleigh shared how they took community gatherings and turned them into places to organize homeowners around fair property tax assessments for their neighborhoods.

Join us at our next CFHC membership meeting on June 11 to learn how we’re working to bring their efforts to the greater Wilmington area!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Housing Affordability in the Cape Fear Breakfast! With over 175 attendees, the event brought together community leaders, service providers, and advocates committed to advancing housing solutions across our region.

We had an amazing line up of speakers from across North Carolina to help us stay up to date on state policy changes and think about new ways to create and preserve housing opportunities at the local level. Huge thanks to our speakers from North Carolina Housing Coalition, Wake County Government, Men of Southeast Raleigh, and Kimley Horn for sharing your insights and visions for a future where everyone has an affordable home.

We are also deeply grateful for all of the sponsors who made this event possible and who empower us to provide free programs to our community.

If you missed the breakfast, we hope you’ll join our mailing list to get updates for future events!
