Your city of Wilmington firefighters stay ready to serve! 5/19/2026 Crews responded to a total of 20 calls for service within a 24 hour shift. These calls included Emergency Medical calls, fire alarms, CO / gas checks and 2 working fires.

Today marks the final shift for Firefighter Tim Doyle. Doyle has served 25 years with us here at The City Of Wilmington. Doyle recently became the program coordinator at Fairmont High school teaching the next generation. We are extremely grateful for his service. Enjoy retirement!!!

Every day crews are responsible for various equipment checks and chores. Wednesdays special chore is checking in the equipment at Station 2 (not in service). This includes Medic 4, Tower 1 and boat units. Tower 1s aerial is 100ft tall.

Today Crews trained on rope rescue skills. This scenario crews had to create a hoisting system running off the tip of the ladder in order to safely lift a patient who have found themselves in too peculiar of a position for a ground ladder or other means. WFD prides ourselves in being well trained for any emergencies that come our way.

During the month of March the Local 3011 responded to 350 total runs. Of those 266 were EMS, 58 Fire, 13 Motor Vehicle Crashes, and 3 Structure Fires. Mutual-aid was given 17 times and received 4 times.

At approximately 6:48am the Local 3011 responded to the 400 block of Florence Ave for a possible electric fire. Upon arrival a haze was noticed. Upon investigation an attic fire was found and the run was upgraded to a working fire. Insulation was removed from the attic and hot spots were hit with a water can and hose line. Fire was contained to a small area in the attic space. No injuries were reported.
