Gopher tortoises are certainly cute, but they are also valuable parts of an ecosystem! Their burrows provide homes for other animals. When they dig up and pile up the soil, they create little ecosystems and enrich the soil for plant growth. Gopher tortoises face threats from invasive species, habitat destruction, and traffic. We feel they deserve protection! We hope you will visit and want to help save wild tortoises and other species in need. See you at the zoo! 🐢
