🚨 The FY 2026 HUD Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) has officially been released! 🚨

This year's competition outlines HUD's priorities and funding opportunities to support communities working to prevent and end homelessness.

The Cape Fear Homeless Continuum of Care (NC-506) is currently reviewing the NOFO and preparing our local competition process. We encourage current and prospective applicants to begin reviewing the guidance and considering how proposed projects align with community needs and HUD priorities.

Over the coming weeks, we will provide updates, technical assistance opportunities, timelines, and resources to support agencies interested in applying.

Together, we can continue building a coordinated system that helps individuals and families move from homelessness to stable housing.

Stay tuned for more information!

A huge thank you to our incredible ICF HUD Technical Assistance team for joining the Cape Fear Homeless CoC this week for our Permanent Supportive Housing capacity building workshops!

Your expertise, insight, and collaborative approach brought invaluable conversations to our community around system coordination, predictive analysis, funding strategies, HUD PSH regulations, and strengthening long-term housing stability across our region.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn together and continue building a stronger, more coordinated PSH system for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Cape Fear region. Thank you for investing your time, knowledge, and energy into this work alongside our local providers and partners!

As our community celebrated the ribbon cutting of Good Shepherd Center's SECU The Sparrow last week, it’s a great reminder of the impact supportive housing can have in creating long-term stability for individuals experiencing homelessness.

According to the Cape Fear Homeless CoC’s System Performance Measures:
• Approximately 95% of households exiting Permanent Supportive Housing in our region remain stably housed or exit to another permanent housing destination.
• Returns to homelessness are low, with only about 4% of households that exited to housing returning to homelessness within the measured timeframe.

Permanent Supportive Housing combines affordable housing with supportive services and continues to be one of the most effective tools communities have to address chronic homelessness and support long-term housing stability.

We’re excited to see continued investment in housing solutions that strengthen our community and create pathways to stability. 💙
