Ready for a hike?
Come celebrate Spring with the Wilmington Trail Committee with a hike on the Primitive trail Sunday April 26th at 10am. The Primitive Trail ( #6 on the map) runs between West Lake Road and Wahoo’s and is about 2.5 miles each way. Hiking this trail is like stepping back in time, as you pass through evergreens and get a glimpse of Grandma and Grandpa Maple. There is also the added bonus of the opportunity to reward yourself with a snack at Wahoos post hike. We’ll start the hike at the end of West Lake Road, where it turns into a private road and leave a car at Wahoos to drive folks back.

The Wilmington Trail Committee needs new members! If you’d like to join us or learn more about what is involved in serving on the committee, please reply to this email or join our next monthly meeting April 9th. We meet on the second Thursday of every month at 5:30pm for about an hour - in person or via Zoom and organize one Workbee a month to maintain the trails.

Hi Wilmington Trail Friends,
WTC has scheduled a work bee on:

Monday, July 8th at 4 pm
Meet up place: Future HT&W trail parking area off of Fairview Avenue (just before the bus and plow turnaround).
Goal: to reclear a path established last year from the parking area to the new trail section, as well as a path along the entire new trail section.
Purpose: so contractors attending the HT&W project pre-bid walk will be able to visualize the future trail path.
Tools: brush cutters or grass whips (w**d whacker may work), loppers, chain saw and/or pruning saw (there are a couple of small blow downs).

Hope to see some helpers there! Thank you for your support

Hello Friends of Wilmington Trails,
A work bee is scheduled for this Thursday, May 23rd @ 4:30 pm

WTC really needs at least five more strong, willing, and able individuals to help move two 25’ telephone poles ~150 feet. The poles will be utilized at the a future work bee to reset the third wooden bridge which has a washed out footing.

Rod Beemis will provide the moving rig for the telephone poles; we just need to show up with gloves, sturdy footwear, and some team spirit!

Meet up place is at the Mill Street Trailhead of the Hoot, Toot & Whistle Trail.

I’ll appreciate a reply from those planning to attend who can lend a hand:

To Friends of the Trails— Here's how you can help this coming Green-Up Day!!—

Wilmington’s Green Up Day

• Saturday, May 4, 9:00-11:00 a.m. (Rain or Shine). Come to Buzzy Towne Park on South Main St. for bag distribution and route assignments. (Across the street from 19 South Main)

• Brightly colored clothes, long pants, long sleeves, gloves, sturdy shoes, and insect repellent are recommended.

• All ages are welcome - in groups or individually. Children must be with an adult.

• Collect litter on the roadsides along your assigned route. Please do not go on private property. Tie full bags closed. Deliver to the town truck in the Old School Community Center lower parking lot OR leave along roadsides with any large items next to full bags.

• For questions or route sign-up prior to May 4, or to suggest an area that needs clean up, email Wilmington Green Up coordinators, Kathy Larsen ([email protected]) or Anthony Martino ([email protected]).

Though it's rather snowy this time of year, below all that powder sit a few of the state's most gorgeous hiking trails. In fact, one of our favorites is a beautiful, peaceful trail that can be found on the east side of Lake Raponda in Wilmington. Shoot for the parking area above Green Mountain Beach on Lake Raponda. And you'll find the trail just a few yards from the trail head. From there, enjoy the short Wilmington Town Forest Loop. [These photos from this past autumn.]
