The Village of Willowbrook’s official trick-or-treat hours are Saturday, October 31, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Whether you’re taking the kids door to door or handing out treats, please stay alert, look out for your neighbors, and help keep the evening safe for everyone. The Village of Willowbrook is getting ready for Halloween! 🎃

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 31, 2026, and get ready for a fun-filled evening of trick-or-treating!

🕑 Trick-or-Treat Hours: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

As you head out for Halloween fun, please remember to:
🍬 Stay on sidewalks and use crosswalks.
🚸 Watch for children and pedestrians.
🔦 Carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing.
🏡 Only visit homes with lights on and respect those who are not participating.

Let’s work together to make Halloween safe, fun, and memorable for everyone in our community!

📞 A huge thank you to DuComm for taking the time to join our Citizens Police Academy and give our participants an inside look at the important work that happens behind the scenes when someone calls 911.

Their presentation highlighted the many questions that must be asked, the information that needs to be gathered, and the lifesaving instructions that can be provided before first responders even arrive.

A special thank you to Nijah Greene and Ilana Alcala for sharing their knowledge, answering questions, and giving our academy participants a better understanding of the vital role DuComm plays in our community. 👏📞

🚨 Our Command Staff is Doing Great Things! 🚨

It’s been a great week for the Willowbrook Police Department, and we couldn’t be prouder of our command staff!

👏 Congratulations to Deputy Chief Gerard Wodka on successfully completing the ILETSB New Chiefs Orientation last week in Peoria! This is an excellent professional development opportunity, and we’re excited to see D/C Wodka continue to grow as a leader and bring that experience back to WPD.

👏 Congratulations to Chief Lauren Kaspar on being sworn in this week as Vice President of the DuPage Chiefs of Police Association! We’re proud to have Chief Kaspar representing Willowbrook alongside law enforcement leaders from throughout DuPage County.

Leadership, professional development, and service to our community don’t stop at the badge and our command staff continues to demonstrate that every day.

The Willowbrook Blue Envelope Program is designed to promote positive, respectful communication between police officers and individuals who may have autism, developmental disabilities, cognitive disabilities, or communication challenges. The envelope helps officers recognize that a person may benefit from additional time, patience, or communication support during an interaction.

While the program is especially useful during traffic stops, the Blue Envelope may also be presented during any encounter with a police officer.

Participation is completely voluntary and free of charge. Residents, employees, students, and individuals who regularly spend time in Willowbrook are welcome to participate. No registration or proof of diagnosis is required.

Blue Envelopes are available for pickup at the Willowbrook Police Department and Willowbrook Village Hall.

Participants are encouraged to store copies of important documents and helpful information inside the envelope, including:

Driver's license or state identification card
Vehicle registration
Proof of insurance
Emergency contact information
Communication or support information that may assist officers during an interaction

The Blue Envelope Program does not change law enforcement procedures or officer safety protocols.

Participation in the program does not provide an exemption from traffic laws or other legal requirements.

Police agencies outside of Willowbrook may not recognize or participate in the program.

Waves of showers and thunderstorms this weekend will be capable of torrential downpours which may result in localized flooding, especially in poor drainage and low-lying areas. 🚲⚡ NEW E-BIKE & E-SCOOTER LAWS ARE COMING TO ILLINOIS!

If you ride an e-bike, e-scooter, electric skateboard—or have a kid who does—there are some important changes coming your way.

Beginning January 1, 2027, new Illinois laws will establish additional classifications and requirements for electric micromobility devices. Depending on the type and speed of the device, the rules can address things like where it can be operated, age requirements, licensing, registration, insurance, and whether it can be used on sidewalks, bike lanes, bike paths, or roadways.

And yes… not every electric device is treated the same. 👀

For example, the new regulations distinguish between low-speed and high-speed e-bikes and e-scooters, as well as other electric devices. Some higher-speed devices may be regulated as motor-driven cycles and require a title, registration, insurance, and a valid driver's license.

📅 Effective January 1, 2027

We know this can get confusing, so the Willowbrook Police Department has created an E-Bike & E-Scooter Info Hub to help residents understand the rules.

❤️💙 WHAT A DAY, WILLOWBROOK! 💙❤️

Our 2nd Annual Public Safety Open House was an absolute success, and we can’t say THANK YOU enough to everyone who helped make it happen!

From our police officers and firefighters to our Village staff, public works team, vendors, volunteers, public safety partners, and all of the people working behind the scenes — this event truly took a Village. And what a Village we have! 👏

One of the things that makes Willowbrook so special is our ability to come together as a community and create events like this for our families. The teamwork, enthusiasm, and willingness to jump in wherever needed is what sets Willowbrook apart from other communities. We are incredibly proud to be part of a Village that shows up for one another. ❤️

And to everyone who came out today — THANK YOU! Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and watching families interact with the people who serve them every day made all the planning and hard work completely worth it. 🚔🚒🚑

A special thank you to all of our amazing partners who brought the day to life with demonstrations, equipment, activities, and plenty of things to see and do. You helped make today one to remember!
