Water is over the roadways on many roads right now. Please do not drive through them.
ATVFD just finished a water rescue. Thankfully no one was hurt but it could've gone in a whole other direction fast.
As we face more rain, creeks will continue to rise and water will continue to break the banks and flood more.

Please be careful!

ATVFD would like to congratulate all the 2026 graduates! We wish the best for each of you!

Firefighter Friday is going to be a little different this week
Today, in accordance with EMS Appreciation Week, We'd like to recognize Mark Johnson, our Deputy Chief, who is also a Paramedic. Thank you Mark for doing what you do!

We also have multiple Medical First Responders on our dept that play an important role every day. We couldn't do it without you all!

AND our fire dept is lucky to have Lawrence County EMS Station 5 with us also, the Medics and EMTs at Station 5 are amazing and we appreciate and respect you all for your hard work!

Thank you to everyone that plays a role in the daily activities of Emergency Services!

Today ATVFD went to Symmes Valley Schools and taught the bus drivers Fire Extinguisher training. Our Junior Captain Isabelle Jenkins created an educational slide show and taught the class then they fired up some burning hay to teach actual hands on Extinguisher training.
Taking time to educate and do hands on training together is always top of our list of favorite things to do. Having our youth step up and participate as well as instruct with us is important for the fire service future.
Thanks to all that attended today!
Enjoy your summer!

Training...
Why do we do training nights?
Every day we are called to situations that are never text book applications. Real life situations are never two of the same and we must be prepared for whatever we come upon. Tonight we combined training with a neighboring dept and built a small, makeshift obstacle course in our station to simulate interior walls of a home. We blacked out their masks so they couldn't see, had them gear up and crawl using the hose and touch and each other in a buddy system attack to find a victim. They learned how to feel their way in extreme low visibility and rely on each other. They then had to attempt to rescue the "victim". Its much harder then you'd think.
For many, this was the first time they've done this exercise. Fun was had, but they all came away with hands on knowledge.

Videos in comments because Facebook won't let me combine pictures and videos...

Firefighter Friday
Junior Lieutenant Cayden Lewis
Cayden is ending his Sophomore year at Rock Hill Schools. He loves to hunt and a great well managed young man.
He came to us to learn more about the fire service and we've had a blast with him on our team. Hes shown great interest in learning and being active in the department and his sense of humor keeps us all laughing. He's a strong asset for the future of the department and we are proud to have him with us. Keep up the good work work Cayden!

ATVFD sends our condolences and prayers to the Rock Hill Community as they mourn the loss of one of their students.
