This June 14th, we proudly celebrate the Stars and Stripes and all that it represents: freedom, unity, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of our nation.

Flag Day carries special meaning as we continue commemorating America's 250th birthday, a historic milestone honoring two and a half centuries of independence, democracy, and the generations of Americans who have helped shape our country's story.

As we reflect on our shared history, we are reminded that strong communities and civic pride remain at the heart of what makes America special.

Wishing all residents, neighbors, visitors, and friends of Willow Springs a wonderful Flag Day and a memorable year as we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America!

As summer break begins, School Resource Officer Justin Haubenreiser and the Willow Springs Police Department encourage families to make online safety part of their summer plans.

With more free time comes increased screen time, online gaming, social media use, and digital communication. A few proactive conversations and healthy technology habits can go a long way in helping children stay safe both online and offline this summer.

Here are a few important reminders for parents and guardians:
✔️ Set clear and consistent screen time expectations
✔️ Know what apps, games, and social media platforms your children are using
✔️ Remind children never to share personal information online
✔️ Keep devices in common family areas whenever possible
✔️ Encourage outdoor play, reading, sports, and family activities away from screens
✔️ Talk openly about cyberbullying, online strangers, and suspicious messages
✔️ Teach children to contact a trusted adult if something makes them uncomfortable
✔️ Make sure children know how and when to call 911 in an emergency
