DATE, September 3, 2026
The Howell County Commission has implemented a Burn Ban Order #2025-17 For Howell County Missouri in effect until action is taken by the Howell County Commission to terminate.
A Burn Ban is ordered due to fire danger is extreme due to dry air Extreme Drought conditions continuing in Howell County, and it has been determined by the Missouri State Fire Marshall that a ban is appropriate for Howell County.
Dry conditions contribute to the extreme dangers of burning and as the conditions are expected to prevail over the next several of days according to the National Weather Service, therefor actions have been taken to help protect people and property in Howell County.
The Following acts will be prohibited within the boundaries of Howell County by all citizens and visitors:
1.. Careless use of materials, including ci******es, ci**rs and smoking pipes, Discard shall be in a manner to prevent threat from smoldering remains initiating a fire.
2. Building, maintaining, attending or using an open fire or campfire except in a permanent stove or fireplace or barbeque grills.
3. Prescribed burning of all fence rows, field, wild land, ravines, trash and debris. Prescribed burning may be exempted from the order where such burning is necessary and has been specifically approved in writhing by the Howell County Director of Emergency Management or other appropriate office of this County.
Knowing and willful violation of the Ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor and any person convicted of such violation shall be punished as provided law.

Looking for a local sawmill or craftsman to help the Willow Springs Fire Department! 🪵🚒
We are upgrading our rescue equipment and need some assistance creating hardwood cribbing blocks. These blocks are critical safety tools used to stabilize vehicles during auto and heavy truck extrication to ensure a safe workspace for our firefighters and victims.
We can possibly provide the logs, but we need someone with a sawmill who can cut them to spec and help us transport the logs to your mill.
Because of the immense weight these blocks must support, the wood must be a hardwood (like oak, ash or hickory).
Here is what we are in need of cut:
Car Stabilization: 4" x 4" x 18" (Qty: 72)
Semi-Truck Stabilization: 4" x 6" x 24" (Qty: 64)
Filler Blocks: 2" x 4" x 18" (Qty: 36)

Attention Willow Springs Community!
🚨🚒We need to talk about the weather, and it’s not good news for fire safety. As you've probably noticed, we are experiencing a severe lack of rain in our area. ☀️🍂The ground is bone-dry, and with humidity levels dropping rapidly, the risk of accidental fires is extremely high right now.
📉🔥Please help us keep Willow Springs safe by following these urgent precautions:
🚫 Postpone Burning: Avoid any outdoor burning, including brush piles, campfires, or burn barrels. A single spark can travel and ignite a fire instantly.
🚜 Use Caution Mowing: Dry grass can easily ignite from a spark caused by lawnmower blades striking a rock. Try to mow during the coolest, most humid part of the day, and keep a water source nearby.
🚬 Dispose of Ci******es Properly: Never throw cigarette butts out of car windows or onto the ground. Use deep, sturdy ashtrays.
⛓️ Check Tow Chains: If you are hauling a trailer, ensure chains are not dragging on the pavement and creating sparks.
While you are helping us prevent fires, don't forget to take care of yourselves!
🥤 Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.🏡 Stay Cool: Take frequent breaks in the shade or AC if you must work outdoors.
🐾 Protect Pets: Ensure your animals have plenty of fresh water and shade.Thank you for doing your part to protect our town and your neighbors. Stay cool, stay vigilant, and stay safe! 👋❤️

The Willow Springs Fire Department wants to remind everyone that the National Weather Service office in Springfield, MO has issued an Extreme Heat Warning. This kind of heat can become dangerous quickly, so please take it seriously and check on those around you.
Stay cool by:
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day
Staying indoors in air conditioning as much as possible
Limiting time outside, especially during the hottest part of the day
Taking frequent breaks in the shade if you must be outside
Wearing light, loose-fitting clothing
Never leaving children, pets, or anyone vulnerable in a hot vehicle
Please also look out for neighbors who may not have air conditioning, are elderly, have health concerns, or live alone. A quick check-in, a cool place to rest, or helping them get to a cooling center can make a big difference. If you notice signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, call 911 right away. Stay safe, stay cool, and look out for one another.

🚒💦 NOW THAT’S HOW YOU END BAND CAMP! 💦🥁
The Willow Springs Fire Department rolled up today to help our Willow Springs Bears Marching Band cool off on their final day of band camp—and things got a little out of hand in the best way possible!
After beating the heat with the fire hoses, the real chaos started: an epic, all-out water balloon fight! Chief Logan ended up right in the middle of the action (and definitely took a few direct hits! 🎯).
It was an absolute blast for everyone involved. We love our community and we love being able to support our Bears! Good luck this season, band! 🎶🐻💙
We have a reason to believe more photos will surface in the coming days!
