Upper Moreland Township School District

Upper Moreland Township School District Welcome to Upper Moreland School District. We are located in southeastern Pennsylvania, and serve the students of Willow Grove, Hatboro, and Huntingdon Valley.

Our district includes an elementary campus that consists of the Primary School, (grades K-2) and the Intermediate School, (grades 3-5), the Middle School, (grades 6-8), and our High School (grades 9-12). Our present student population is approximately 3100 students.

☕🐻 The Bears Barista Café is now closed until Monday, June 29!

Thank you to everyone who supported our student-run café throughout the school year. The Bears Barista Café, operated by students in the Upper Moreland Transition Program and located in the Administration Building, will reopen on June 29 as part of our Extended School Year (ESY) program.

This year, nineteen (19) valued Upper Moreland staff members decided to retire and begin the next chapter of their lives. Their collective service totals an impressive 347 years, for which we are thankful for their dedication to our students and school community. This year's departing class includes dedicated professionals from every corner of our district.

🌟 Congratulations to the UMHS Rotary Student of the Month for May, Luke Starr!

Luke is recognized for his outstanding academic achievement, athletic excellence, leadership, and service. A member of the National Honor Society, Luke has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to success both in the classroom and beyond.

A standout multi-sport athlete, Luke served as a Captain of the Varsity Football team and as both Indoor and Outdoor Captain of the Track team. He has earned two MVP awards and was recently named the UMHS Student Athlete of the Month. Known for his leadership and sportsmanship, Luke regularly mentors younger athletes and encourages his teammates to reach their full potential.

Beyond athletics, Luke has made a positive impact through his involvement with Morgan's Message and Angels in Motion (AIM). As an intern in the school's technology program, he also helped create a supportive learning environment by assisting fellow students and fostering collaboration.

This fall, Luke will attend Widener University, where he plans to study Mechanical Engineering and continue his athletic career as a member of the Track team.

Last month, UMPS welcomed author Hayley Rocco & author/illustrator John Rocco for a special visit with students!

The pair met with all grade levels, sharing their experiences as creators of children’s books, including "All the Books" & the "Meet the Wild Things" series. Hayley discussed her journey as a writer and the research behind their work, while John demonstrated how he creates illustrations by breaking images into simple shapes. Students were engaged and excited as they learned about the creative process and the power of storytelling.

Hayley & John are co-founders of Children’s Book Creators for Conservation (CBCC), which supports conservation efforts through storytelling and partnerships with organizations like Wild Tomorrow.

As part of a First Friday initiative, UMPS & UMIS raised funds for Wild Tomorrow and The Sloth Conservation Foundation. These contributions will help build a sloth crossing wildlife bridge, allowing students to eventually see the real-world impact of their efforts.

Special thanks to Mrs. Klein, UMPS Librarian, as well as staff, the Home and School Association, and Capricorn Books for helping make this meaningful and memorable experience possible!
