Willoughby Police Department Highlights Successful Prosecution of Fleeing and Eluding Cases
September 11, 2026- Willoughby, Ohio

The Willoughby Police Department is highlighting five separate cases between July 1, 2025, and May 6, 2026, in which individuals who fled from law enforcement were successfully investigated, prosecuted, and sentenced to prison.

The following is a summary of the cases:

Case #1
• Defendant: Nathaniel Jackson
• Charges: Failure to Comply With an Order of a Police Officer, Felony of the Third Degree
• Sentence: 24 months in prison and up to 3 years of post-release control

Case #2
• Defendant: Deontre Mcrae
• Charges: Failure to Comply With an Order of a Police Officer, Felony of the Third Degree
• Sentence: 12 months in prison and up to 3 years of post-release control

Case #3
• Defendant: Stephen Fisher
• Charges: Failure to Comply With an Order of a Police Officer, Felony of the Third Degree
• Sentence: 30 months in prison and up to 3 years of post-release control

Case #4
• Defendant: Terrell Weatherspoon
• Charges: Failure to Comply With an Order of a Police Officer, Felony of the Third Degree
• Sentence: 18 months in prison and up to 3 years of post-release control

Case #5
• Defendant: Dashaun Moore
• Charges: Failure to Comply With an Order of a Police Officer, Felony of the Third Degree
• Sentence: 18 months in prison and up to 3 years of post-release control

Vehicle pursuits are among the most dangerous incidents encountered by law enforcement and often place innocent members of the public at risk of serious injury or death. While our agency may not be able to continue the pursuit in all circumstances, primarily when the risks to the public outweigh the immediate need for apprehension, we remain committed to following through on the investigation to bring those who flee to justice.

These cases demonstrate the dedication of Willoughby Police officers, detectives, prosecutors, and our partner agencies in holding offenders accountable for conduct that endangers our community. Several of these offenders were apprehended by The United States Marshals Service Northen Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The safety of our residents and visitors remains our highest priority. Individuals who choose to flee from law enforcement should understand that these actions carry serious consequences, and the Willoughby Police Department, and its partners, will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute these offenders.

It was a great night of friendly competition, community support, and plenty of fun — with the Police Department taking home the win this year 31-9.

Man Sentenced to 12 Months in Prison Following May Pursuit

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — September 8, 2026 — A Cleveland man charged following a May vehicle pursuit involving Willoughby Police officers has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.
On May 11, 2026, at approximately 3:29 p.m., Willoughby Police officers responded to the area of Skiff Street after receiving a report of a disturbance involving several individuals in a vehicle outside a residence and a possible fi***rm.

Officers located the involved white Kia a short time later near Skiff Street and Vine Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and fled westbound on State Route 2.

During the brief pursuit, the vehicle was driven erratically, reached approximately 95 mph in a posted 60 mph zone, and cut off multiple vehicles. Due to traffic conditions and the danger created by the fleeing vehicle, officers terminated the pursuit.

Willoughby detectives continued investigating the incident and subsequently located the vehicle unoccupied in Cleveland. The vehicle was towed to the Willoughby Police Department and later processed pursuant to a search warrant.

Through witness interviews, video evidence, and additional investigative work, WPD identified My’Sunn Williams as the driver of the vehicle. Williams was subsequently charged with Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a third-degree felony, and an arrest warrant was issued.

On May 29, 2026, the Cleveland Division of Police notified Willoughby detectives that Williams had been taken into custody in Cleveland by the United States Marshals Service. Willoughby detectives responded and transported Williams back to the Willoughby Police Department.

During a subsequent interview, Williams acknowledged that he had been driving the Kia when officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

On July 23, 2026, Williams pleaded guilty in the Lake County Court of Common Pleas to one count of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a third-degree felony, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2921.331(B).

On September 1, 2026, the Honorable Judge Patrick J. Condon sentenced Williams to 12 months in prison and up to three years of post-release control. Williams is additionally facing charges from several other Northeast Ohio agencies for similar incidents involving vehicle pursuit and weapons offenses.

The Willoughby Police Department would like to thank the Cleveland Division of Police and the United States Marshals Service for its assistance in this investigation. The department remains committed to holding individuals accountable when they flee from law enforcement and create a danger to officers and the public.
