Summer Safety Series: Playground Safety 🌞🛝

Did you know? According to the National Safety Council, thousands of children are treated each year for playground-related injuries, many caused by falls, hot surfaces, or unsafe play.

Here are a few reminders to help keep playtime safe and fun this summer:

😎 Check equipment before play. Slides and metal surfaces can get extremely hot in the sun.
😎 Always supervise. Keep a close eye on younger children while they play.
😎 Wear proper shoes. Closed-toe shoes help prevent slips, trips, and injuries.
😎 Remove helmets before climbing. Helmets can get caught on playground equipment and become dangerous.

Playgrounds are meant for fun, adventure, and making summer memories. A few quick safety checks can help keep everyone safe while they play.

The Williston Police Department's 2026 Public Auction is coming up on Saturday, June 13, and this year we're auctioning off more than just vehicles! In addition to cars, trucks, and SUVs, there will also be a selection of unclaimed and abandoned property available for public sale.

📍 WPD Impound Lot – 921 6th Street E.
🚪 Gates & Registration Open: 8:00 AM
🔨 Auction Begins: 10:00 AM

✔ Valid ID required to register ✔ All items sold as-is ✔ Payment due on auction day ✔ Vehicles must be removed by June 19th

Need a key? 🔑 Bakken Locksmith will be on site to make keys for vehicles that do not have one.

Earlier this week, we recognized School Resource Officers Chase Cook and Nick Nelson with the Life Saving Award, and WBSD7 Nursing Director Lynn Douglas with the Humanitarian Award, for their actions during a medical emergency at Williston High School that helped save the life of student Caleb Mosley.

It was especially meaningful to have Caleb and his family in attendance as we honored the individuals whose quick actions, training, and teamwork made such a profound difference that day.

We are proud to recognize these individuals and grateful for the commitment they show to our schools and community every day. ❤️🎖️

We’re almost there!!
We are so excited to bring back our Touch A Truck event this year, and let us say we couldn’t have done it without the amazing community support from last year!
Our fingers are crossed that we keep growing this event and that we are able to host it year after year!
A few changes have been made since last year, but worry not! We are changing it to improve your experience!
We will now have food, vendors, and of course COOL TRUCKS!
We will also be implementing a sensory hour from 10-11, so no horns or sirens to ensure that our smaller or sound sensitive friends can show up without having any discomfort. 😊
We cannot overstate how much it means to us that the community, the people, and the companies who donate their time to help us have a day of fun.
