Get ready for America’s biggest birthday celebration—here’s how to prepare for parade day!
⏰ When: July 4th at 10:30 AM sharp (Plan to arrive at least an hour early!)
📍 The Official Route: Starts at 3rd St. NW and Constitution Ave. ➡️ runs south along 3rd St. SW to Independence Ave. SW➡️ heads west on Independence Ave. SW➡️ ends at 12th St. SW.
Insider Pro-Tips for the Best Experience:
Getting to the Parade: Parking is extremely limited around the parade route, and visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. Please visit the WMATA website for more information and the National Park Service website for details on road closures as the parade date approaches.
Seating: Public viewing is completely free along the entire route! Make sure to bring your own outdoor folding chairs and blankets to stay comfortable.
Beat the Crowds: Looking for the best vantage point? Head closer toward the end of the parade route (near 12th St.)—it's historically less crowded, meaning it's way easier to score an incredible view!
Stay hydrated: July temperatures can rise quickly, so be sure to bring plenty of water and drink regularly throughout the morning. A reusable water bottle can help keep you cool and comfortable while you enjoy the parade!
Can't make it in person? Don't sweat it! C-SPAN will broadcast the parade and stream it to all services starting at 10:30 AM on July 4th. If you can't watch live, a full recording will also be available on the National Independence Day Parade's Facebook and YouTube pages.
