It has become increasingly apparent in the last 36 hours that JR Romano will win a majority of the votes and be reelected as State Party Chairman tonight. Accordingly, I am withdrawing from the race at this time.

I want to thank the State Central Members, RTC Chairs and RTC members around the state who supported our campaign and the changes we advocated. I also want to thank those who arranged the recent debates, for they added greater transparency to the process.

I wish Mr. Romano success in his third term as state party chairman and hope brighter days are ahead for the Republican Party in Connecticut.

Tomorrow night, the 74 State Central Committee Members will elect our State Party Chairman for 2019-2021. Over the past several months, it has been a great pleasure to speak to many of you at RTC meetings and debates across the state. There is great concern at the RTC and grassroots level about the trajectory of our state and our party and the need for a change in leadership this year.

I have presented plans for what we will do to scale up the party organization if elected, including building an always-on and far larger ground game, providing more resources to our candidates and RTCs and taking a more active role in candidate recruitment. I am willing and eager to take on the immense challenge of building a far stronger CTGOP organization, which is why I am asking for your support in tomorrow’s election.

If you feel strongly that it’s time for change, please contact your State Central members and ask them to vote for change tomorrow evening.

Is it any surprise that one of our largest corporations and employers (19,000 people) announced 5 days after the Legislative session ended that it's moving HQ to Massachusetts?!? We need to change leadership at the CTGOP to elect more Republicans so we can start to change course for Connecticut.

United Technologies Corp. announced Sunday it’s merging with defense contractor Raytheon Co. and will move its headquarters to the Boston area from Farmngton.
