Telecommunicators serve as the critical first point of contact during emergencies and play an essential role in ensuring the safety of our officers, campus community, and the public. Their professionalism, calm demeanor, and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure are vital to the success of our operations.

Whether handling emergency calls, coordinating responses, or providing critical information in real time, our Telecommunicators demonstrate dedication, resilience, and commitment to service. Their contributions often occur behind the scenes, but their impact is significant and deeply appreciated.

Please join me in recognizing and thanking our Telecommunicators for their hard work, professionalism, and continued commitment to the department and the community we serve.

April is Autism Acceptance Month—a time to move beyond awareness and actively foster understanding, inclusion, and respect.

At Eastern Connecticut State University Police Department, we are committed to building meaningful connections with all members of our community. This includes supporting individuals on the autism spectrum through education, engagement, and thoughtful policing practices.
Programs like our upcoming Traffic Stop Practice event on April 11, 2026, developed in partnership with the Southern Connecticut State University Center of Excellence on Autism Disorder and local law enforcement partners, reflect that commitment. These efforts help create safer, more comfortable interactions while strengthening trust between law enforcement and the community we serve.

Autism acceptance is about recognizing strengths, valuing differences, and ensuring every individual feels seen, respected, and supported.

We are proud to stand with our community this month—and every month—in promoting understanding and inclusion.
