Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Their bravery helped secure the cause of freedom and changed the course of history. We remember those who served and gave their lives so future generations could live in liberty.

On this last day of session I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank my Albany staff for their dedication and service these last several months. Griffin, my Special Assistant, will be heading to the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, and Katie, my Legislative Intern is continuing her education.

Griffin and Katie ensured our office ran smoothly and efficiently, helping and meeting with countless constituents and advocates, and working behind the scenes to achieve our legislative goals.

I wish them all the best in their next steps and, on behalf the people of the 146th Assembly District, I thank them for their service to our district and New York State.

I am proud to co-sponsor the Responsible Data Center Development Act because New Yorkers should not be forced to shoulder the costs of powering and supporting massive data centers. As demand for energy continues to grow, we must ensure that everyday ratepayers are protected, infrastructure investments are made responsibly, and new development aligns with our clean energy goals. This legislation takes a balanced approach by promoting innovation while safeguarding consumers, our electric grid, and the environment. I thank Assemblymember Barrett for her leadership on this issue.

🚨 Proud to introduce the Responsible Data Center Development Act with Kristen Gonzalez for New York to make sure everyday New Yorkers aren’t saddled with the costs of building and operating data centers! This common-sense legislation will impose a moratorium on new data centers in New York State for one year, create a new utility rate class for large energy users like data centers, and require data centers to use predominantly renewable energy. I forward to getting this bill to the finish line before the end of session!

Dr. Caroline Attardo Genco is an accomplished scholar, respected academic leader and passionate advocate for higher education. Her experience leading a complex, research-intensive institution, combined with her distinguished career as an educator uniquely positions her to build on the University at Buffalo's extraordinary momentum. As a Western New York native, first-generation college student, and the first woman to lead UB in its 180-year history, Dr. Genco brings both a deeply personal connection to our region and a bold vision for the future. As UB's representative in the Assembly, I am proud to congratulate and welcome Dr. Genco back home to WNY, and I look forward to working with her and her team to advance this premier institution.

Caroline Attardo Genco, provost and senior vice president at Tufts University, has been named ’s 16th president, becoming the first woman and Buffalo native to lead the university. Her appointment was approved by the SUNY Board of Trustees Tuesday following an international search.

Genco will join the UB community on August 10, 2026. Learn more ➡️ http://ms.spr.ly/6180vb2V4
