Supporting Our Senior Citizens

Yesterday, Mayor Joyce presented a ceremonial check to the Wood County Senior Citizens Association, Inc. Executive Director, Kelly Goedel, recognizing the City of Parkersburg’s contribution of $25,000 to support senior nutrition and transportation services.

The Wood County Senior Citizens Association plays a vital role in helping our seniors maintain their independence by providing nutritious meals, reliable transportation, and other essential services that improve the quality of life throughout our community.

The City of Parkersburg is proud to partner with organizations like WCSCA that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents every day.

We had a special visit from City of Parkersburg - Government today!

The City of Parkersburg is recognizing the Wood County Senior Citizens Association as part of its Fiscal Year 2027 community investment strategy, providing $25,000 to support senior nutrition and transportation services throughout the community.

The funding will help strengthen programs that provide meals and transportation assistance for local seniors, helping residents maintain independence and their quality of life.

Mayor Tom Joyce emphasized the importance of investing in organizations that directly serve Parkersburg’s senior population.

“The Wood County Senior Citizens Association provides vital services that many residents depend on every single day,” said Mayor Tom Joyce. “From nutrition assistance to reliable transportation, their work helps our senior citizens remain connected, and able to live with dignity and independence.”

Kelly Goedel, Executive Director of the Wood County Senior Citizens Association, expressed appreciation for the City’s continued partnership.

“We are extremely grateful for the City of Parkersburg’s support,” said Goedel. “This funding helps us continue providing these services that are essential to the health, well-being, and independence of the seniors we serve throughout the region.”
