It is the mission of the Grant County Sheriff's Office to develop a highly trained, efficient, and professional law enforcement office in order to provide outstanding service to the citizens of Grant County, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and our Country. In order to reach this goal, we have attempted to build an organization with outstanding individuals that clearly display high moral integrity co

upled with excellent capabilities and the drive to work with pride to accomplish this goal. It has long recognized that outstanding accomplishments can be obtained when each member of the department not only understands the goals and objectives of the department, but also identifies with them to the extent that ownership of these goals and objectives are shared by all. Public service is not limited to a chosen group or groups or to individuals. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the community regardless of age, race, religion, sexual preference, socio-economic background, or any other factor. Discrimination of any form will not be tolerated within the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Along with the responsibility of providing firm and fair law enforcement services to the public comes the duty of fiscal responsibility. The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is committed to finding new and innovative ways to increase technology and manpower, prevent duplication of services within the Sheriff’s Department, and to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the department by making clear concise decisions that will benefit the community as a whole. Our mission is never-ending and every employee must strive to achieve our goals each and every day in order to serve the public in the manner in which they expect and deserve.

The representative pictured below is Keith May with LAW Publications. He will be in our community going from business to business to get sponsorships for our community safety program.

This program gets awareness information and material into the hands of school aged children and senior citizens to warn them of many different risks and dangers involved with drugs and also keep them informed on various other important safety topics.

Thank you for your support!

🚧 Update on Hyde Road Railroad Crossing Closure 🚧

Judge/Executive Chuck Dills has gotten ahold of our representative with Norfolk Southern and here are a few things we have learned:

1) Norfolk will be laying rail and paving during this closure.
2) The closure will not be for two full days. It will be short closures throughout the two days- the time of work is currently unknown.
3) Norfolk has been made aware that Hyde Road is a single entrance/exit road, and they are preparing a plan for emergencies (should there be any).
4) Norfolk is preparing a press release with more details regarding this closure.

We understand the frustration this may have caused. Please know that this is a Norfolk Southern closing, and not a county closing. Once we receive more information from Norfolk, we will make a post.

April 22, 2026 in the early morning, a student at the Grant County Middle School reported finding a single (1) .22 caliber bullet on the floor of a boys' restroom. The student immediately notified a school administrator. Our School Resource Officer and School Administrators viewed camera footage and identified students who had accessed the restroom during the relevant time frame. Twenty-seven male students were searched, along with their lockers. No additional items of concern were found.
At no time was there an active threat identified, and the situation was handled quickly in accordance with school safety procedures. We are sharing this information to keep families informed. Student safety remains a top priority.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office has been receiving a high number of calls regarding children operating ATVs and dirt bikes on public roads and numerous subdivisions in the county.

Parents, please talk to your children about these illegal activities before a rider is seriously injured or killed. At this time, this is only a public warning to parents and riders. Illegal operation of ATVs and dirt bikes can lead to impoundment with unwanted fees and/or fines.

We also encourage everyone to know when and where ATVs and dirt bikes are allowed. Riders may not trespass on private property without the landowner’s permission. We encourage riding ATVs and dirt bikes in a safe and legal manner.
