Chartered by the Martin County Sheriff's office, Law Enforcement Exploring Post 911 has provided an educational resource for young males and females that are interested in law enforcement as a future profession. Started under direction the Sheriff Mac Manning, later under direction of Sheriff Neil Elks; Martin County Sheriff's Office picked up Explorer Post 911 after Sheriff Neil Elks of Pitt Coun
ty dropped the program, the Post is now under the direction of Sheriff Dan Gibbs of Martin County. Volunteer officers, dispatchers, and clerks provide training and supervision on station and in the community. A very large percentage of explorers determine that law enforcement is a profession worth pursuing, and go on to study criminal justice and law enforcement in college. Martin County Sheriff's Office explorers will grow to become police officers, state troopers, federal agents, military police, business persons, Deputy Sheriff and productive members of the community.
