MCS Career & Technical Education Martin County Schools in Williamston, NC Career & Technical Education In total, about 1100 students are enrolled in CTE classes in Martin County.

Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies, and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. h school graduation rate for CTE concentrators is about 90% – 15 percentage points higher than the national average.

In the later labs of the semester, Ms. Joyner's Culinary Arts students at Martin County High School, NC, used a variety of skills to cook up some very different goodies.

Culinary Arts students recently completed an exciting hands-on cooking lab in which they prepared homemade cinnamon rolls and explored the art of sushi-making. Students practiced important culinary skills such as measuring, dough preparation, rolling techniques, knife skills, food safety, and presentation.

During the sushi portion of the lab, students created California rolls and vegetable rolls, which were served with a homemade spicy mayo sauce. The cinnamon roll lab allowed students to apply baking techniques while learning about yeast activation, dough development, and proper baking procedures.
