We will be quite a bit cooler today with highs falling into the 80s areawide and staying there through at least mid-week. Shower and thunderstorm threat will remain today, but primarily dry conditions return through mid-week.

Another round of thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. Be mindful of changing weather conditions as you celebrate the Labor Day weekend.

There is a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms across much of eastern NC today, focused on the afternoon and evening hours. Like yesterday, the threat will progress from northwest to southeast. Damaging winds are the most likely threat, but some isolated large hail is also possible.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of long time member Denver Harrison.

Denver served his community for years as a member of BGFR. Through his service and influence many followed in his footsteps to include his wife Linda, son Justin, and grandsons Jacob and Reid all currently serving as active members

Visitation will be Tuesday night, 6-8pm at Rose of Sharon Church.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 3 pm, at Rose of Sharon with internment at the family cemetery located on Cratt Rd.

8/22/26 @ 735AM – Good morning ENC. Have ongoing showers and a few isolated thunderstorms this morning, especially along the OBX. Do expect shower and thunderstorm chances to increase in coverage later this morning and afternoon, with areas east of Hwy 17 having the best chance to see showers and thunderstorms today.
