🚒Heavy Vehicle Extrication Training🚒

Yesterday and today crews from across Washington County participated in heavy vehicle stabilization and extrication training hosted at our Firehouse in partnership with Washington County Division of Emergency Services. It is imperative that we all maintain these complex skills for these very challenging incident types. We want to thank all of the Instructors for their time, as well as Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company for bringing their Rescue Squad to support the class.

We would like to thank Resley Tire Co. Inc. for their continued support of the Williamsport Vol. Fire & EMS. Thanks to their generosity, we are one step closer to placing our “new” brush unit into service.

They were able to provide us with an absolutely awesome set of off-road tires and wheels that will greatly benefit our operations when responding in off-road conditions.

The Williamsport Vol. Fire & EMS anticipates placing this unit into service in the month of July, replacing our current brush unit, which has reached the end of its service life with the department.

🚨Clear Spring House Fire🔥

Just before 1:30pm Box Alarm 4-5 was sounded for a house on fire on Boyd Road in Clear Spring. Initial arriving crews from the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company reported a two story home with fire from the second floor. The Engine and Truck were assigned to the second floor to assist Company 4 with fire attack and searches. The soul occupant of the home was reported out of the house and uninjured. This is still an active scene please avoid the area.

🚨Interstate Bus Fire🚨

Just after 6:30am units were alerted for a bus on fire at the Interstate 70/81 interchange. Units arrived to a double decker charter bus on fire. All 62 occupants were able to self extricate and were all uninjured. The Washington County Division of Emergency Services Mobile Ambulance Bus, a Washington County Government - Maryland County Commuter bus, and two ambulances were used to shuttle all the occupants to Williamsport Fire Company while they waited for a replacement bus. Other Companies involved were: Halfway Volunteer Fire Company, Maugansville Goodwill Vol. Fire Co.13, Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company, and the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company.

Special thank you to Chick-fil-A Hagerstown for their donation of food for all of the occupants.

🔔2 Alarms in Boonsboro🔔

Just before 4:30am Box Alarm 6-3 was sounded for a report of a house on fire on Tiger Way in Boonsboro. Units arrived to find one large two story home completely involved with the neighboring residence beginning to ignite. A second alarm was transmitted to bring more resources to the scene. Our Engine is currently operating as part of that second alarm assignment. Please avoid the area as this is still an active scene.
