Yesterday marked the end of my service as the treatment court judge. It’s hard to put into words what this program and you have all meant to me over the last 28 years.

Treatment court has been one of the most meaningful parts of my career. I’ve seen people at their lowest points doing incredibly hard work and rebuild their lives. I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside a treatment team that shows up every day with compassion, professionalism, patience, and an unwavering belief in the people we serve.

This photo was taken on my last day with some of this remarkable group of past and present team members. I’m deeply grateful for each of them and for the countless hours, tough conversations, small victories, and life-changing moments we’ve shared. This program has shaped me as a judge, and as a person, and I will always carry it with me.

Even though I won’t be there anymore, the strength of treatment court has never depended on one person. The program will continue to support you, challenge you, and stand beside you as you do the hard work of change. Your progress and your successes are yours, built through your effort, your honesty, and your commitment, with a team that believes in you every step of the way.
