REMINDER: City of Williamsburg offices are closed today, Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Quarterpath Recreation Center will be closed until 4:30 p.m., when it will open for scheduled practices.

Waller Mill Park will follow normal operating hours, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

As part of the process, we're hosting an introductory meeting on Wednesday, June 24 at 6pm in the Norfolk Police Department Community Room in the Second Precinct. The City of Williamsburg's Landscape Division will remove an oak tree in poor health, requiring a lane closure on Lafayette Street on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The work will take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the northbound lane of Lafayette Street, near its intersection with North Waller Street and Capitol Landing Road. Traffic will shift to one alternating lane.

Flaggers will be on site at both locations to direct vehicles and assist drivers through the work zone.

Motorists should be prepared for a change in traffic patterns and proceed with caution.

Update: Due to the inclement weather forecast, we are relocating the groundbreaking ceremony to the community room at the new Williamsburg Police Station, 615 Lafayette St. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Parking instructions remain unchanged, as we will still use the police station and Municipal Building lots.

A preservation and education project designed to honor and interpret the city's rich and complex African American history, the Williamsburg African American Heritage Trail will be a 2-mile journey through Williamsburg’s downtown. The project will create a self-guided experience consisting of interpretive markers at historically significant locations, a comprehensive mobile app, and a corresponding website.
