What started out as a chilly and foggy morning turned into a beautiful sunny day to ride around in a golf cart.

Thank you to everyone who played in, sponsored, and otherwise supported our 1st Annual Andrew Harkulich Memorial Golf Outing! Congratulations to our scramble winners, Atlas Wholesale Supply Co. We’re already excited for next year! ☀️⛳️

Special thank you to Riverside Golf for the beautiful course and being so easy to work with, John Kluck for supplying our lunch, and our volunteers for keeping the event running smoothly. And again, thank you to everyone who contributed toward this event- we’re proud to contribute a portion of funds raised to all of the food banks that serve families throughout the counties that make up the NWPA Labor Federation.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the IAM Union!

As America marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we celebrate the freedoms that unite us and honor those who have sacrificed to protect them.

We also recognize the millions of working people spending the holiday on the job, including IAM members who build, maintain, manufacture, transport, defend, and keep our nation moving.

No matter the challenges we face, our greatest strength has always been our ability to stand together. Wishing all IAM members and their families a safe, happy, and meaningful Fourth of July!

One year ago today, we lost our beloved chair, Andrew “Andy” Harkulich.

Andy was a giant in the labor movement in Western Pennsylvania because he showed up, again and again, for working people, for his community, for his union family, and for the people he loved. He never sought recognition; he was just trying to make the world a better place for his daughter and all who came after him.

At this year’s Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Convention, Andy was honored during the Work & Families Breakfast with an In-Memoriam Special Tribute. His best friend and fellow Steelworker, Todd, reminded us that everything Andy did came from the bottom of his heart. His daughter, Kaeyla, accepted the tribute on his behalf and shared what so many of us knew to be true: Andy never missed anything, as a dad, for the union, or for anything else he was a part of. His spirit reminds us to keep showing up even when we feel like quitting.

This year, the Northwest PA Area Labor Federation renamed our annual golf outing in his honor to carry forward his legacy of solidarity and service. The first Andrew Harkulich Memorial Golf Outing will be on Friday, August 14th at Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs.

Andy’s absence is still deeply felt across our labor family. We are grateful to our current chair, Declan Pape, of IBEW Local 712, for his leadership and for helping keep the work moving forward in the spirit of Andy’s example.

Today, we remember Andy with love, gratitude, and a continued commitment to the work he gave so much of himself to. Rest in power.

This Juneteenth, we celebrate the resilience and leadership of black workers who’ve paved the way for freedom and equal opportunities for all. Let us honor them by recommitting ourselves to the fight for safe working conditions and fair pay for working people.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this nation. As we spend time with our families and friends, we pause to reflect and honor those who never came home and those who carried the wounds of war long after their service ended.

Their service will not soon be forgotten.

Congrats to Penn State faculty for making it official!

Today, over 5,000 faculty across Penn State campuses, including University Park and the Commonwealth Campuses, won their faculty union, the Penn State Faculty Alliance, SEIU Local 668, with 2,510 faculty members voting Union Yes!!! This is compared to 847 that voted for no representation, meaning that the union won with almost 75% of the vote!!

Solidarity with Iron Workers across the commonwealth, especially the members of Local 401 in Philadelphia as they manage this tragedy. 🖤

The members and leadership of Iron Workers Local 3 are heavy-hearted today as we process the news of the tragic parking garage collapse at the CHOP parking garage construction site in Philadelphia.

Our deepest thoughts, prayers, and strength go out to our brothers and sisters of Iron Workers Local 401. To the families of the member we lost and to those still waiting for news of the two missing workers: please know that your extended family in Pittsburgh stands with you.

Local 401, you are not alone. We are Ironworker Strong, and we stand with Philly.
