Pittsburgh garbage and recycling collection services will be suspended through the end of this week to enable Public Works crews to concentrate on snow removal efforts. Many collection trucks are being used for snow plowing, residential snow piles are blocking curbs, and low wind chills are expected. Collection services will resume as normal on Monday, February 2nd.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: All garbage and recycling collection is suspended for this week.

In addition to Public Works personnel continuing to focus on snow removal, large snow banks have accumulated throughout the city and windchills are expected to hit severely low temperatures during collection times.

Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Good afternoon, Wilkinsburg families.

We want to keep everyone informed about trash and recycling pickup for this week.

Because Wilkinsburg contracts with the City of Pittsburgh for trash and recycling services, there will be no trash or recycling pickup this week. The City’s Public Works crews are currently focused on battling the ongoing snow and ice conditions, and with large snowbanks and dangerously low windchills, normal collection is temporarily suspended.

At the same time, our own crews are continuing to focus on clearing and treating roads throughout the borough to keep residents safe.

Normal trash and recycling operations are expected to resume on Monday, February 2, 2026.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work around the clock to manage these winter conditions. Thank you for bearing with us and for looking out for one another during this weather.

As always, we’ll continue to keep you updated. Stay safe and warm. ❄️
