Victims Resource Center

Victims Resource Center Provides services for victims of sexual assault and other crimes. VRC has the right to remove any inappropriate comments.

In 1974, a nationwide rape crisis movement brought awareness of victims' rights to the forefront. A grassroots organization called the Luzerne County Women Organized Against Rape opened it's doors, providing a 24-hour hotline and accompaniment to police interviews, hospital visits, and court proceedings. This was the genesis of the Victims Resource Center (VRC) that today provides assistance to vi

ctims of all types of crimes. In 1979, an office was established in Wilkes-Barre with two staff members. In 1982, the organization's name was changed to Victims Resource Center. VRC continues to broaden it's scope of services, and has opened additional offices in Jim Thorpe, Tunkhannock, and Conyngham.

Last week was a busy week for VRC's Prevention Education Team. They participated in multiple wellness events which included Senator David G. Argall and PA State Rep. Doyle Heffley Senior Citizens Expo, King's College, Pennsylvania Volunteer Fair, Keystone College Stomp Out the Stigma, and PA State Rep. Tina Pickett Wyoming County Senior Expo.
